I'm visiting there in October and probably moving there for 3-6 months while continuing to save for a bigger move. Just wondering if anyone has any information or whatnot.


I'm considering going there to save money because from what I've read rent is very reasonable (the average apartment cost is 657 for a two bedroom) and the Canadian dollar is very similar to the American in value with a min wage a dollar higher (45-60 cents higher after currency shemps are factored) than where I live. I don't make minimum now and would prefer to get a better job, but it's good to know that baseline income is higher. Anyway, I also felt a little stupid for not having thought of this before, for $62 I can take a ten hour train ride and be to the 5th largest North American city, and a relatively exotic one at that.

a word of advice: wearing red or blue clothing in certain neighborhood can be quite hazardous.

if you plan to get a cheap rent in a cheap place, that something you need to know.

You should try to learn some basic french. But you will be able to communicate with almost everybody in english.

Instead of wearing red or blue, buy a habs jersey and you can wear both colors.

Pretty shocked they have crips and bloods in Canada.

I dont know for the rest of canada, but for Quebec, montreal is pretty much the only place where you could find those.

Former remnants of the hell engels in the other cities prevent any possible expension for them beyond montreal.
