Ron Paul actually says something that makes sense and gets booed. It's like they literally covered their ears and said "LALALALALA, don't want to hear it."

Politics in the US is more or less like a circus show. Every four years we get to watch a bunch off clowns make grand, and hilariously ignorant, promises and the public eats it up and pretends something will change because of who they "vote" for. ("Vote" is in quotations because I do not see the US as being a real democracy)
It would be funny if it weren't so sad and disgusting.

Agreed, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of the stupid shit that is being said and even cheered for.

I thought they were against our foreign policy? Guess they are just as pro USA as the neocons.

Listening to this same sort of crap happen to Ron Paul during the previous 2008 election (which was before I was a communist) is what made me realise that our so-called "democracy" is bullshit.
I mean how could this be a democracy when you get booed just for anti-imperialism and other policies that the majority of the workers support?

Listening to Rick Santorum talk is like watching a character in some weird dystopian movie.

God Ron Paul, why do you have to be a dumb ass christian libertarian? You're halfway to being a leftist
Edit: Fuck, the extra loud boos at the mention of Palestinians really pisses me off.

I think people like him because they like a generally (and candidly) anti-war candidate. It's not something the Republican party is used to, so people tend to latch on. Seems to get a lot of attention from younger folks. I guess it speaks to the fact that a lot of people are frustrated with a lot of things, so they gravitate to the guy that sounds different.
Then there's literally every other thing he believes, which totally ruins it.

The time I spent watching that video is the longest time I spent wanting to hug a racist quasi-anarcho-capitalist reactionary. Ron Paul is probably so misunderstood by the vaguely leftist people who give him their full support because of his stance on US imperialism- the only valid part of his entire platform.

Ron Paul is not an "anti-imperialist."

It seems like Ron Paul's anti-war platform is not based on a legitimate desire to see world peace, but only out of a desire to promote American interests. His main arguments against it are that it creates enemies, in unconstitutional, and costs money. I have a feeling that if it was in the constitution and it was free, he'd have no problem bombing the poor brown people as he'd be likely to describe them.

"we support american exceptionalism and freedom for everybody around the whole world"
how some reconciles those two statements in the same sentence is beyond me. american politics are fucked yo

Those with rational policies don't get money for obvious reasons. I think Paul is the only one who would be true to his word (as disastrous as that would be) out of all the other candidates.

And, to be fair, foreign policy is the one area that Ron Paul would be able to enact anyway.
Not saying I'd ever vote for the guy, but having him as president alongside a hostile Democratic Congress would probably ensure that only the sane parts of his platform pass while everything else gets blocked. (Not that the Democrats are trustworthy in the slightest - but don't discount partisan motives when they work to our advantage!).
