Hey there,
I realize that most of you have probably heard of the School of the Americas, the U.S.-funded military institute that trains military officers from central and south america in the ways of terrorism and destabilization, all in the name of the U.S. capitalist agenda.
GO HERE!!!! http://www.soaw.org/new/

There is a vigil held in mid-november outside the gates of the SOA, commemorating the thousands of innocent people killed by its graduates and pushing for its closure. I will most likely be there at Ft Benning, Georgia, and so should you.....

So, what have YOU heard?

so they've taken themselves out of the native countries and brought their flunkies here to teach? Thats civil of them. I guess they take less blame that way.

I think anyone who can possibly get down there should probably obligate themselves to do so. Protests don't always have to change things directly- Educating the Public is much more important in the long run.

agreed, it is important to get information about this institution out to the public, because surely the government or its mass-media cronies aren't too excited to publish information about this. (Plus Martin SHeen is gonna be there-he always gets himself arrested by crossing over the border line onto the base)

I certainly hope that the only reason that thing is still in operation here is because most people don't know about it, and that the American public, however callous and selfish they may be, wouldn't tolerate their tax dollars to support this. There is a reason the school was evicted from Panama (its original location) for being a destabilizing force in the area.

I've been planning on going down there since March. Hopefully I'll make it to the SOA protest since I'm going to the FTAA protest first. It'll be two protests back to back if I don't get arrested. There's was talk about buses going from Miami to Ft. Benning. Hopefully that'll happen and get more people out there this year. Some people in the organization I'm in have gone to it for a few years now. But I'm definately looking forward to it because it does need to get shut down.

I'm a little grounded, but next year I reach the age of freedom (and hopefully reason).
