In a post-revolutionary society, would all wars be abolished since there isn't any need for them anymore? Well what is the main causes of war in a Marxist perspective?

War between nations is repudiated, but war will always exist somehow as long as there are social classes. There was the civil war in Russia, China ... ; the guerrilla warfare in Cuba, Peru ... ; military aid to struggles in other countries (proletarian internationalism), like USSR aid to the leftist rebels on Spanish Civil War. These are necessary struggles. But in a post-revolutionary society? Depends on... In the case of possible or actual invasion from imperialists, e.g. when USSR had to defeat the Nazis or Cuban soldiers having to defeat the invasion of U$AmeriKKKa. (:D)

From what I understand, yes, since the post-revolutionary society entails an end to national divisions and inequality between nations and unity of the global working class.

Competition between business leads to competition over resources. Competition over resources leads to competition between nations over resources. Which is imperialism--the conquest of natural resources of one country at the expense of another. (Is Marxist perspective on imperialism, from what I know). Thus, most wars are caused by imperialism and social ills.

I cannot imagine that in the higher-stage of communism there will still be wars, unless certain religious zealots insist on continuing jihad, or crusades. But my guess is even they will die out in a generation or so.

competition between states is not reducible to competition between businesses. if that were so, why the conflicts between "Communist" countries (such as Vietnam and China)? there were wars and empires long before capitalism...going back centuries.

the system of territorial states leads to a form of competition that is not the same as business competition. the more muscular a state is, the more it can get what it wants. within a capitalist framework, this means defend the interests of its capitalist elite in the wider world as well as protecting the capitalist system.

some people think greed, acquisitiveness, is the dominant motivation within capitalism, but power is desired for its own sake as well.

competition between states leads to the arms race. states are forced to build up their means of destruction to ensure their posiition...even out of self-protection.

a federative system throughout the world would be needed to bring this to an end by bringing an end to the ability of territories to act in a high-handed and completely independent manner.
