The prospects for President Barack Obama's $447 billion jobs plan grew dimmer Monday as he unveiled the fine print of how it would be paid for—primarily through tax increases that Republicans said would destroy jobs, not create them.

Mr. Obama proposed limiting itemized deductions for families with taxable income of $250,000 or more a year, ending tax breaks for oil companies and corporate jet owners, and cutting out a tax break for investment-fund managers. The White House says the tax changes would take effect in 2013 and estimates they would raise $467 billion in additional revenue over 10 years.

So here's the deal, obviously this isn't going to get passed since the Republicans control the House. Obama knows this. He's just trying to put forward a solution that he knows they will reject so when he's campaigning he can say "look what I did, they're the bad guys." He potentially could have passed something similar to this when the Dems had the House but the point is not to actually get it passed, it's to make it look like they tried to pass it. It's just a reminder of how fucking stupid mainstream politics is, I can't believe there are people who follow this kind of stuff all the time and don't realize how much they don't give a shit about us.

As a side note, every time someone uses the term "job creator" seriously I want to shoot them.

Businesses do not create jobs. Labour supply and labour markets make it possible for those who need to hire and profit from innovations to realize them. (http://www.revleft.com/vb/supply-side-political-t152098/index.html)

He wont cave in because the election is only more than a year away and he needs campaign slogans. If he does negotiate this position and signs a weaker bill then he loses next year because he lost his "they obstruct everything" slogan. Basically Vaginal Knives has it exactly right.

The only thing I find wrong with what you've written is calling "mainstream politics" stupid. This is shrewd, callous and criminal. Stupid is the last word I'd use for this kind of open class warfare.

Hear, fucking hear!

You're right. Just when I think they couldn't possibly get away with anything more, it gets worse.

So he will close a few holes and then hands them money as part of his "job creation" plan that is essentially another round of tax cuts.
