Well, do you?
Be honest. Do you wish you were born rich so that you could avoid difficult people (read a-holes) and painful circumstances -circumstances which, as a poor working person, you'll never be able to avoid?

Avoid assholes? From what I can see, being rich from birth would mean pretty much everyone around me would be assholes.

Rich? Well... Nnnnno. Not really. Even though it would be nice to afford things I need/want, I'm kinda scared of thought of me being rich asshole. Just a wee bit wealthier perhaps.

Being in a rich family doesn't mean all that much if you're in an unhappy family. I've seen lots of kids who are rich but barely know their parents because they're always working...and their "friends" aren't really friends, just fake people who want free shit. Some people might smirk, but having everything except love makes for a very empty life.

I'd rather have money than love.
Thank you.

^This.
However, I wouldn't want to be "rich" like Bill Gates or somebody. I just need enough money to be able to afford what I like to do.

Honestly dealing with other people who also have money would be the worst part of having money. When it comes to difficult people, mo' money mo' problems.
Otherwise yeah it'd be baller to be financially secure.

Of course, and anyone who says they wouldn't is a liar. I would eat at expensive restaurants everyday and drive around in a nice car, because honestly I am tired of three minute noodles and waiting in the rain for the bus.

This.
I'd be that rich guy who spends his money just having awesome amounts of fun. Buy a boat and go out wakeboarding everyday because I can because I live on a tropical island where the weather is always good. I'd be throwing money around with my friends and family like it was nothing, it would be great. I mean I could do all the dangerous things I've ever wanted to do without worrying about hospital bills, just imagine that.

If you want to become rich some day, you are just falling into the trap of Capitalism. The whole system is based on people wanting to work hard and become rich some day, which very very very x100 rarely happens.

Life would be easier for no other reason than I could stop 'trying to find a way'. It's a never-ending labyrinth of free/sliding-scale clinics- government help- battling work- finding time- finding a ride- ...you know? All the minor hang-ups people who have might not even think of suddenly become the facilitating force behind financial ruination. Spending your day off- like 8 hours of it- figuring out how not to die in the near future isn't living. I never agreed to do this upon my birth so that a few people can live comfy.

You saying you wouldn't want to be born into a rich family or that part of you doesn't wish you were rich right now? Shit, I wish that I didn't have to worry about how I'm going to pay my cell phone bill this month, good thing my mom let me stay at home after I graduated high school or I would be worrying about how I'm going to feed myself right now. You can't tell me that you wouldn't wish you had the means to take care of things like that if you could.

ive seen rich peoples houses. places where richies get wages like $1,000 an hr and are probably sitting on something around a million in assets.
the houses are grand. sure. but they are hilarious in how poorly built they are :D
it also looks too sanitary. plus, its a country club and golf course.

I wouldn't want to be born rich, but I'd like to magically inherit a billion dollars now. I say this because, as someone who doesn't have jack shit, and constantly dreams up ways of living easy which, because I am broke, are necessarily "off the beaten path", I feel like I could put it to better use and avoid being a totally opulent d-bag in the process. Hell, if I could get my hands on 200 grand I could set myself up for life. Probably not in the way that most people would, but I could and I think I'd enjoy it.
Anyways, other things I'd do would be to buy back the old ancestral family home in west babylon that we lost when my grandma died. We've never been rich, but back in those days we had a big communal family house. All of my aunts and uncles, as well as myself and my mom, lived there. Now the family has gone to shit, scattered around the country. Only one aunt of mine is doing "well" now, and I think that it's because the big Italian family unit is destroyed. I understand that capitalism is the root of social degradation etc etc but if you knew the particulars of my family you'd know that this was a serious blow to us.
Also, I'd totally be a shady George Soros type with all that cash, EXCEPT I'D ACTUALLY BE A COMMUNIST. I'd really make Glenn Beck shit himself then. I don't think I'd fund existing groups as I don't think that they really warrant it, I'd just throw that money behind the creation of mass working-class organizational efforts.

Honestly the thought of me being some rich douchebag just scares me.
I'd like to just obtain a moderately large sum of money right now so I'd know not to be a douche with it. Just enough to travel around as much as I'd like, and have some really pointless fun now and then. Can't think of anything else I'd spend money on.

Born rich? Well...yes I would like that a lot. However, I am afraid that I would be like the tyrannical bourgeoisie that I so much despise.
To get rich now? Say win the lotto or something. I would love it. However, knowing what I know now I would use much of it to fund revolutionary anti-capitalist action. My father both talked of then about how we would spend our money if we won the lotto, and we both agreed that funding left-wing paramilitaries would be on both of our agendas :). Also, I would give money to hospitals, orphanages, and youth organizations.
Some of you say "oh he's just saying that now." but I know I would do these things, because what good is my well being if others around me starve? Maybe I'm an idealist, or a dreamer but that is what I would do. God save the capitalists if I get a hold of some money.

Yeah, if I got rich now I'd put away enough not to worry about bills ever again. I'd continue working part-time, and I'd donate the lot of it to union and party.

No, but I would love to become rich via some sort of inheritance now. Realistically, nobody in my family is ever going to leave me a substantial amount of money, so I play the lottery very occasionally (euromillions!), and spend the afternoon dreaming of a nice apartment over the thames, trips to vegas and a sports boat.
But yeah, that's never gonna happen. Can't complain.

Yeah it'd be great to be rich? Hopefully I will some day I guess?
I think mabye the main thing would be the security, that you could just do whatever you wanted bascially and it'd all ultimately be okay, cause you have a lot of money. I mean, i guess it comes with its own psycological baggage though, if you are born rich its probably unavoidable to feel like you have something to live up to, to achieve. And if you're self made, you probably have a bit of guilt about it all.
Also why all the fear of being a "rich douchebag", in my experience, rich kids aren't really any douchey than poor kids? why would they be? obviously they're privilged but i think most of them are aware of that.

I'm very grateful to have been born on the low end of the working class and to have lived much of my life in poverty. Money thoroughly and utterly destroys people, erodes their persons from the very core and leaves them self-concerned shells of people absorbed into the microcosm of their own lives. I never realized just how much privilege and money ruin people until I started living in a house with a formerly wealthy family now forced to live on working class wages, as I do now. In their personalities, in their dealings, in everything the parents do, I can see the remnants of their decadent lifestyle and their constant frustration at their new-found limitations. The entire family is warped and dysfunctional, the vast majority of them have severe mental or personality disorders. They don't trust one another in the slightest and their interactions with one another are draconian, self-serving and suspicious. The youngest child in the family (11) is without any empathy or personality, he's a greedy and self-entitled brat who shouts at his parents and disrespects his friends terribly. My roommate is the most sensible and balanced person in the family, and overall is a cool red guy- but even he admittedly suffers from a dearth of empathy and can't connect with people like he knows he should be able to. His contribution to the overall sanity of the family is overshadowed by his cousin, who is a drug-addicted sociopath (meaning I am convinced that he literally has anti-social disorder) with no regard for human safety or dignity, no understanding of social situations whatsoever, no work capacity (had to teach the kid how to sweep at age 18, can't even do dishes with a dishwasher, etc.), no drive, no motivation, no purpose at all but to sit in his basement, drink Robitussin and pass judgement on people who are down on their luck or in a bad place in their lives. He just came back from rehab where he tricked insane homeless people into physical confrontation with one another sheerly for his own amusement; he's the living personification of the wealthy family's twisted, dysfunctional, self-concerned nature and simultaneously the most awful product of their creation.
So no, I would never want to have been born into a rich family, I would never be wealthy nor suffer anyone else to be. As John Reed said as he witnessed grieving wives and mothers trying to follow their husbands and sons into the grave following the battle for Moscow in 1917,
"The poor love each other so!"

No, I do not wish I was born rich. I'd just end up being one of those "celebrities" who has a huge drug problem, with parties that last 48+ hours, and would be having my mugshot taken every other week or so.
Being where I am, is much better. But if I did something worthy enough, that I got a big sum of money, I wouldn't complain.

My idealist political principles says "no". My objective material situation, in which I live on fuck all in a shit student flat, from a poor single-parent household and with massive amount of debt, says "yes".
My ideal life would be one where I didn't have to work and just played videogames, chilled with friends and watched movies all day. Something I could only do if I was rich, lol.
