View Full Version : What would a Anarcho-Communism society be like?

So I have a few questions.

1. What would an Anarcho-Communist society be like for me? I'm pretty much your average teen. I go to school, play video games, just normal teen stuff. lol

2. Are there any successful Anarcho-Communist movements right now? And how successful do you think it could become?

3. What would a law system look like?

4. And lastly, do you think that Anarcho-Communism could come about in a peaceful way?

Thanks!

You'd go to school, play video games, and just do normal teen stuff. What do you think would change?

2. Are there any successful Anarcho-Communist movements right now? And how successful do you think it could become?

Firstly, no, there is none. I guess that sort of answers the other part, but I suggest your read more into the theory, to understand it better, and understand Anarcho-Communism's way of a mass movement.

3. What would a law system look like?

Rehabilitation would be something most would probably look to, before anything else, for someone who's committed something like rape, murder, etc. Things like drug use/selling/buying, would become legal since Anarcho-Communists are mostly for legalization of drugs, and people would be free to go about their use as they please.

4. And lastly, do you think that Anarcho-Communism could come about in a peaceful way?

No.

First of all, I believe education would be handled completely differently. School would not be a mandatory, forced, hierarchical institution. There would not be schools as we know today, but instead "education centers", where anyone can learn whatever they want. We don't need to force Mathematics, History, Physics or Philosophy down student's necks. Youngsters like you and me would learn for ourselves. And, when we think we are ready, we would take a long and difficult exam. If we pass, we are officially qualified and would then go on to non theoretical training. If I want to become a carpenter, and have no interest in Biology, why am I forced to learn it? Instead I could be studying something useful to my desired trade, like carpentry.

You have one very active group, inspired by Marxism and Anarchism, the Zapatistas.

3. What would a law system look like?

"Law" would be enforced by a militia. Let's say you want to be part of security, you would take a course on all sorts of "Laws", physical training and other subjects. You would still have judges, these would be elected or removed from their post at any time through democratic decision.

4. And lastly, do you think that Anarcho-Communism could come about in a peaceful way?

No. The bourgeoisie won't give up their wealth without a fight. It's not our fault it's going to be violent. I would be more than happy for a peaceful communist revolution, but sadly, that's just idealist.

Thanks!

No problem ;)

Here OP.

but seriously, all we have is theory, it's impossible to know exactly what society would be. Anarchist FAQ is good. Also;

Good luck OP but I think you should do a little soul searching if your main concerns with communism are losing your video games and hanging out.

Thanks for the information and links everyone! I'll be sure to check them out!
And sorry wolves, I was just describing how, in my case at least as I understand some people don't have such privileges, a normal teen life is. But thank you for worrying about my soul! :D

No need to apologize, don't worry I'm a regular teen too. Weed and video games ftw.

I don't agree with this because I generally believe in an informed public. In this sense, I think young people should be taught a well rounded education, so that they learn a little about everything, then they get to find out what they're interested in and specialize based on an informed decision. It does society no good to have carpenters who don't understand at least the basic principles of biology, if anything, so as not to get duped by pseudoscience.
