A bunch of disillusioned liberals who thought that communism was all about legalizing pot and cool welfare programs. They also have never actually read anything on Marxism. I asked one why they changed 'I grew up you know. Socialist at 20 no heart not a conservative at 40 no brains' I respond but what parts of Marx's theories did you come to disagree without. 'well the whole thing about you no the welfare state.

That or the old CPUSA alienated them and made them hate what they thought was communism.

Yeah, ex-commies mostly weren't communist to begin with.

My grandfather used to be a communist.

"I changed because I realized people need incentive."

You mean you were a communist for most of your childhood and young adult life and couldn't get past the idiotic "incentive" argument!? Um...

I think it was because he came from a very wealthy Indian family and was just being a rebellious kiddie who went back to his bourgeois values once he started to make money and invest.

You know why I hate that cliche? During the London riots, it was only Marxists who were saying there's a social stimulus to what was happening and everyone else was knee-jerking so much the vets were exhausted with how many dogs' ribs they had to fix up. So if it's stupid to chase after causes, you may as well say 'if you're not a doctor at 20, you've no heart; if you're not a crystal healer at 40, you've got no brain.'
