I was wondering has there every or is a group, which works for technological development to aid production by the proletariat; or other socialist based area which technology can be used?

I was thinking maybe proletariat development of technology can help make the transition of mode of production easier. Since there will be a gap in what has been developed for the capitalist end and the socialist tech would need to be developed; not just limited to production but community and such.

The easiest would be software, but i don't think it should be limited to that.

EDIT: also think that besides just the move of goal posts for technology it would benefit social interaction of the proletariat, where they can use their skills and develop new ones based on constructive development not market oriented.

There are 'for-proletariat' ideas like The Venus Project www.thevenusproject.com which aims to assist the ordinary human being, and not that of corporation's interests.

TBH yes they may work to assist ordinary human beings, but from my view point they're more interested in developing artificial social constructs. I am very much put of by their idealistic philosophy, tbh they sound like a sort of Utopian socialists.

What's wrong with being "idealistic" or "Utopian socialist"

I strongly believe the best things we can do right now are *social.* We educate as many people as possible, gather as many people as possible to our cause, organise protests, etc.

However, since we are living in the 21th century, I do agree that our cause will require the use of technology, for example to use cyber-warfare against corporations and governments, like anonymous & LulzSec have been doing.

Socialist oriented developmentHere is a basic outline of what I envision socialist (post-capitalist) development might entail:

1) Our first phase of development will be to redesign everything from scratch. Throw away all existing operating systems, which are either immanently deficient or hopelessly outdated, and throw away most of our hardware, including our processors. Redesign the entire computing industry from the physical hardware on up.

Redesign the entire education system to eliminate all traces of bourgeoisie ideology. This especially applies to the social sciences, like history and economics. And of course, we will have to do away with tuition and other education costs.

Further redesign everything else, including our cities. Further reconstruction projects will have to be put into place to correct the damage capitalism did to humanity and the environment. We have know idea yet how much damage capitalism has ye to do, so we don't yet know how long this reconstruction stage will last.

2) Now we that we have corrected the damage of capitalism and we have an abundance of material wealth wealth can transition to pure communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stateless_communism). We will further develop technology in order to effectively transition to a Kardashev-1 civilisation by the use of nuclear fusion, space-based solar power, alternative energy, etc. As well as with the use of friendly AI, robotic workers, biotechnology, life extension, etc.

3) Develop even more advanced Kardashev-2 projects such as interstellar probes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starseed_launcher), Dyson shperes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere), terraforming Mars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraforming_of_Mars) and many other advanced projects that we can only imagine.
