View Full Version : Meeting: Committee to Form a Spot in T.O

Comrade Marcel
27th October 2003, 17:59
The Spot is a youth centre in downtown Kitchener that aims to unite all youth to fight for social justice. Opened on May 1st, 2001 by the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Collective, The Spot is a 1,500 square foot space in the Kitchener downtown core. The Spot is a safe space for youth; a place where youth can get away from the street and harassment they face from police and security guards.

Since the opening of the Spot, it has faced reactionary attacks from the state & it's attack dogs. The KW Youth Collective's members have faced political persecution, harrasment from the pigs, and have even been driven out of towns "old west style" by local law enforcement agents when on tour -- all just for trying to give street youth a safe place to hang out.

It's time for the Youth & the People in Toronto to stand up to same challenges that the KWYC has. Winter is coming soon and the streets are no place for youth to have to freeze well being harrassed and told to "move along" by bully security guards and reactionary pigs. In order to create a place like the Spot in Toronto -- and keep it open -- it is going to take the collective effort of as many progressives as possible.

We must start working together and organizing with the street youth to fight back!

Anyone is welcome to join the Committee for a Spot in T.O. as long as you are not a fascist, racist, or an agent of the state.

The first meeting will take place on:
