Someone asked me don't i like the mafia and organized crime once. The answer is in the movies yes. But in reality no and it is an idiotic claim lobbed at individualist and capitalist anarchists way too much.

Organized Crime is a creation of the state. How do they survive??? By providing a service or product that is illegal. So the state makes something illegal, so the supply becomes scarce and therefore very valuable to provide. Since the product or service is illegal customers have to use the few suppliers within their area. And since they have no accountability or fear of the consumer they can operate violently. We can see that in history the government's puritanism has been exploited. The obvious case is the outlawing of alcohol in the early 20th century. The government made it illegal and crooked politicians allied themselves with others willing to operate outside the law to provide this wonderful product. Consumers desperate for a drink had to use what was given them and questioning it could mean a number of things. Today drugs are the example. Todays war on drugs has failed and instead has allowed for huge gangs to come into being to provide this illegal need. This victim-less crime has cost the lives of thousands.

A free society wouldn't be ruled by gangs because there would be no rulers, that is the point of anarchism. Instead of throwing the rock our way throw it at the government. They are the ones outlawing these drugs for either puritanical reasons or profitable reasons. Once the puritanical reasons are gone they will legalize it and the gangs will cease in this respect and instead the crooked politicians will continue to monopolize on the fact that big pharma is now manufacturing these drugs and then the gov't can put a sin tax on it and etc. Therefore you gang goes from being some south americans with uzis to the united states government.

Abolish the government and allow for the free trade of all substances and activities that are now illegal or monopolized and we will see the extinction of the organized crime.

I seem to remember you wanting unregulated capitalism and with this post you didn't actually address why people think you like blackmarket/mobsters, namely that to a common eye gangsters do resemble unregulated capitalists.

Protection rackets don't work like that at all, and that was most of the Russian Mafia.

Unregulated Capitalists are a myth. All these capitalists that are supposedly unregulated are using governments to usurp the market and therefore the consumers in order to protect their interests, so yah modern capitalists are in fact a form organized crime.

Are you incapable of getting an argument? I can't seem to remember mentioning that there are unregulated capitalists.

Yeah, private security won't steal things from those who can't defend themselves... uh, why exactly?

Just because you "abolish the state" doesn't mean the rest of the world will follow your childish morality.

Unregulated Capitalists are a myth because un regulated Capitalism is a myth, it can never exist.

You need the State for Capitalism, and when you ahve a state its a given the capitalists will use their financial power to control the state and use it for their purposes, its a given, There is no way around that, thats why "free market" capitalism is a myth and by definition impossible, and why corporatism is the necessary outcome of Capitalism.

So what is the "Black Market" that exists in Socialist societies? That's Capitalsim and it sure isn't regulated.

I think you rely on academic definition too much--they are handy tools in a pinch for defining the real world--but they aren't the real world.

Remember that to the original poster of this thread that if the old nanny, of the granddad of one of the errand boys of the mafia, had a 3-cousin that worked a year in the state, then the market the gangster involve themselves in is regulated.

Its a black market .... markets do not mean capitalism, also a lot of those blakc markets rely on state production, state currencies, state securities and so on.
