Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, René González and Fernando González, known as the Cuban Five, are serving long prison terms in the United States for having infiltrated and monitored terrorist groups in Miami in an attempt to stop terrorist activities planned against Cuba. In 1998, the Cuban Five discovered financial links between these terrorist groups and the U.S. government. The five were arrested by the FBI 90 days after reporting the discovery of documents suggesting these links. The Cuban Five spent the first 16 months of their jail terms in solitary confinement, without contact with lawyers or family.
The Committee to Free the Cuban Five- Toronto has decided to form a Youth sub Committee in order to allow youth who are interested in working on campaigns to free the Cuban Five to work together as a seperate entity from the main committee.
For all those who are interested in learning more, we invite you out to a meeting on Saturday Novemeber 8th, 2003 7:00 PM @ 21 Sussex Ave.
