Now this is the kind of propaganda I like to see.

Tea Party Zombies Are Dying, But Alas Not of Natural Causes

Oh dear. There's a new over-the-top video game (http://mrctv.org/blog/video-game-allows-players-slaughter-tea-party-zombies-sarah-palin-and-bill-oreilly) from StarvingEyes Advergaming (http://starvingeyes.com/v8/) wherein you slaughter the "Tea Party Zombie" likes of Palin, Bachmann, Gingrich and Beck in blood-spattered settings. Some of the characters (http://www.teapartyzombiesmustdie.com/) are clever - "Generic Pissed Off Old White Guy Zombie," "Factory- made Blonde Fox News Barbie Who Has Never Had A Problem In Her Life Zombie," "Koch Industries Whore Lobbyist Pig Zombie," "Express Racist Views Anonymously On The Internet Modern Klan Zombie" - but the blood and gore and sounds of shots are disturbing, and the right (http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/09/tea_party_zombie_game_is_total.html) is having a fine self-righteous time (http://%20http//www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/07/video-game-targets-tea-party-zombies-fox-news-personalities/) with it. Couldn't the zombies just have had to, we dunno, get re-educated by Noam Chomsky?

Looks like liberal crap to me. "White trash"? Great job on the classism!

I don't know what the point of shit like this is; except to make some "edgy" liberals feel more self-righteous, and in the process make tea party rightists feel the same.

Aside from that, each level presents a tid bit of information about the Tea Party.

... aren't they a bit like zombies though? who cares who made it, and what purpose they have for it - co-opt it and use it as a jumping board to explain why capitalism is fucked up from a genuine leftist position.

Which nobody reads. Because who wants to read statistics and facts in the middle of a game?

The game itself is fun, maybe a little too easy but fun, but the political aspect is childish and condensending.

Hit the nail on the head. Is it just me or do liberals think that they're pointing and laughing is better than making a difference. Seriously, all they can seem to say about the opposition is that they're stupid all the while praising that guy who continues to expand corporate benefits, lay off working people, and deport immigrants. Fuck them, they have nothing to contribute to our cause.

Those of you who criticize this for being too pro-Obama pwogwessive chicanary are only partly right. The fact is this treatment is still quite to the left of the mainstream of the American political discourse and you underestimate the latent radical potential of Americans who currently see themselves as "liberal".

Still, I am the first to scream when the "the right wingers are a bunch of idiots" argument comes up, it is infantile and reflects the inability of our culture to formulate a half-way coherent critique of evil that doesn't require attributing it to incompetence. And there is a lot more that is wrong with this game, not least of which is the violent and dehumanizing message.

BUT you are missing the forest for the trees.

The fact is for all its lame characters and mediocre game play, this is leaps and bounds beyond selling newspapers and soap box oratory masquerading as protest rallies that only preach to the converted.

Newspapers and protest signs were an effective medium over a century ago. Yet somehow the best the left can come up with in terms of reaching a broader audience today is largely restricted to more of the same, and maybe a snazzy website here or there. Don't get me wrong, such tactics have their place. But the results of their overuse have been less than inspiring.

Indeed, the left's current propaganda is awful. It hardly reaches anyone outside the converted. And reading some of the critiques here, maybe the reason is because anytime someone comes up with some reasonably novel way of reaching people who just aren't politically engaged, some of us find it as "too liberal" or the like and dismiss its content rather than the method employed.

For better or worse, this game does use a medium that is quite a bit more accessible than yet another "teach-in", and really does help connect people who don't engage in politics with plausible metaphors (esp. talking point repeating corporate drones like fox news hosts as basically zombies).

Indeed, I am sure I'm not alone in finding a lot political education to frankly be a chore. Given the alternatives, I fail to understand how anybody can be less than enthusiastic about any attempt to reach a wider audience in a more engaging manner, even if it is over the top and not as sharp a critique as we'd hoped for?

I have to agree with NHisA this is pretty blatant classism. We should be trying to win over working class elements in the tea party not creating childish games to further alienate them.
