In Red Army, Aaron Klein and Brenda J. Elliot—bestselling authors of The Manchurian President—expose the nexus of radical socialist groups shaping the presidential agenda of Barack Obama and reveal how their plan to transform America is already well underway. A truly eye-opening work of investigative reporting, Red Army is filled with startling revelations about Obama’s healthcare legislation, the shocking misuse of federal stimulus money, the existence of a powerful “Marxist-socialist” bloc in Congress, and much more. It is a book that every concerned American must read.

the New York Times list is heavily flawed, all you need to do is buy your own books directly form your own publisher and you shoot up the list.
its how an raynd became a stable on the list, her foundation buys her own books and then gives them away.

Apparently Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and George Soros are "Communists" in the American far-right at this point. Barney Frank, the guy who thinks banks can be regulated a little (they probably just put him up there because he's gay and that makes him an easy target for the right), Nancy Pelosi who stands by Israel just as militantly as many rightwing Americans, or Harry Reid who takes money from Casinos to help legalize profitable ventures for them like online poker. George Soros who has a networth of several billion dollars and who spends it on liberal funds around the world that were responsible for bringing liberal-style Capitalism to Eastern Europe in place of bureaucratic statism. It is laughable Red-Baiting ... it makes Eugene McCarthy seem thoughtful by comparison (at least these jokers don't have a congressional committee I suppose).
This is a common phenomenon on the American right at this point. The Republican Presidential candidates are all but calling Obama a Socialist radical, and a lobotomized TV monkey on Fox News recently asked if Warren Buffet is "completely a socialist." (http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201108150031) Yes, apparently the world's third richest man is a socialist. You heard it on Fox News First. Why? Because he thinks its unfair that he pays less taxes than his working class secretary. Yeah that makes you a socialist now. Most modern American rightwing pundits would probably accuse Nixon or Ike Eisenhower of being a secret marxist-leninist based on their policies were they presidents today. Nixon founded the EPA? Maoist! Taxes were 80% on the richest under Eisenhower? Stalinist!

So is Glenn Beck and the Left Behind (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_Behind) series.

If this were true and Obama really was trying to pull a reverse Gorbachev on the USA, I'd give him a high-five. But it's not true, so fuck him.

Murdoch's tentacles stretch way further than any left wing organization ever could.
Why is there no "right wing menace" agenda mentioned or a whole book written on the calculated attempt by FOX and NewCorp to spread right wing disinformation?

^^^ Because not a lot on the left have the guts to discard tired agitational methods and even go so far as to employ Conspiracy Theory tactics:

What, you don't remember when Hillary Clinton was trotted out on camera to defend Billy Boy and actually used the phrase "vast right wing conspiracy" and claimed that the Lewinski (sp?) was a frame up? Not that ol' Hill's even a liberal, let alone socialist, but still, lol.
Then of course there was that book Blinded By The Right, written by a guy who claimed to participate in said conspiracy...
Those works are out there, but the fact that almost nobody pays attention to them is disproof in my mind of right wing assertions about the "liberal media."

That doesn't sound like the agitational technique employed by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, or even Alex Jones. And I was talking about the left, not liberals.

I think those books are more about right wing attempts to smear liberals in the country.
There is no mainstream book out there about a real right wing attempt to indoctrinate the public with right wing lunacy.

Fair enough. I may have missed your point then. (This is what happens when Praxis tries to operate on 4 hours sleep.) There was actually a pretty good documentary called Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism which basically did that, IIRC.

Why does it have to be a book to posit conspiracy-theory-style arguments re. the right wing?

Well not conspiracy theories, but the way David Harvey did an excellent job chronicling the rise of right wing special interest groups financed by big business and endorsed by politician taking policy cues.
It's not a conspiracy to say the ruling class dropped Keynesianism for neo-liberalism.

Apparently right-wing politicians are now Marxists. And let us be honest, the Democrats are what they are. Right-wing, though closer to the center than the Republicans.

Good one. But my main point was really rhetorical in that the mainstream is incapable of making any radical systemic critique such as what Chomsky produces.
