Yes you have been deceived, there's only one, and the title was meant to be plural to spur me to make more due to peer pressure or something, I'll update the OP as I post more, feedback appreciated. Also, obviously American context fliers here.

The text would be a little hard to read on the printouts due to the garbage can blending in with it.

I assume you will print them on 8.5x11 paper for cost and ease. Make sure they are half page size at least, because otherwise the text is hard to read (due to the text color with the waste basket image behind it) otherwise a good start.

You could add a back glow effect if you have photoshop, or make the garbage can the main attention grabbing piece in your flier, and have the text slightly smaller next to it. Images capture attention better than words.

Glad to help, keep them coming Bro. Your statement is great work too, it gets right to the point, and it speaks to the audience in a language they'll identify with while not potentially scaring them off by being communist.

That's also an excellent idea. Anyone here ever heard the supposed "rule of 6?" Or was my teacher full of fluff?

I'm doing this in powerpoint, how the fuck would I accomplish this?
More specifically I'm using libreoffice.
Nevermind my dumbass, I figured out how, though I'd have to do a single trial and error to determine which way to feed the paper.

Also, would it be a bad idea to like, link to revleft and my own personal commie webforum? I always felt that fliers are like hooks, but what do they hook you on? They sort of leave you hanging.

I don't think it would hurt, but if they start joining and the ban hammer starts waving like it did in Donkey Kong, it would be counter-productive. But I totally agree that fliers leave you hanging all the time, and by the time you finally get a chance to research what it was all about you forget it ever happened. ( at least I do )

No.
Don't link to anything, for various reasons. "Redmarx" will probably turn a few people off, some people don't have internet, and most critically, the url will probably leave people scratching their chins.
However, leaving people hanging is indeed problematic, so you might want to find some other way to finish.

Any suggestions? I don't exactly want to leave my cell phone number there.
I'll be dropping these off around uni, everyone has internet here and if they don't there's public computers everywhere.

Contrary to what you may think, revolutions do not occur because people want more “democracy” or “freedom.” Revolutions happen because people are unable to content themselves in modern society. The uprisings across the globe today show us that not only is social change possible, it's inevitable. People are starting to wake up and realise taking control of your own life, your own work place, and your own government is possible. We're not stupid and we're perfectly capable of managing our own affairs, presidents and CEOs be damned.

Are there any clubs or meetings that are held in the vicinity? You could just post a date and time that people gather, they might check it out.

Actually, how about demonstrating the difference between working class democracy and capitalism, like a graphic showing people working together and then a graphic showing somebody with a suit and tie ordering people around with an X over him? Alternatively you could write, "Down with the bosses and the CEOs!" Or you could simply show a worker kicking a capitalist's ass or something.

never a bad idea - besides leaving an image on the mind of the people who see it, fliers are a great way to let people know that an organization is here.

That's good, but keep the anti-vote message in there somehow. It's a good way to show rejection for the current way of doing things.
Also, you should link "discontent" more directly with material conditions. If people don't rebel due to a lack of "democracy" or "freedom," why do they rebel? Answer this question more upfrontly; "unable to content themselves" is too vague.

Let's say that a socialist group meets in place 'X' at 12:00pm on saturdays. You could put down the address, time, and "come check us out" or something.

Unable to content themselves is as specific as I can really think to get. This flier is more about Revolution, the other one is anti-vote, I'll place them together when I put them places. Along with any others I make.

Also I really like this part. "We're not stupid and we're perfectly capable of managing our own affairs, presidents and CEOs be damned."
Maybe you should relate your fliers to the current climate, i.e. the fact that everything is getting cut and our standards of living are in decline. Write some broad conclusion about how we're entitled to freedom over our own lives, our political economic system and to a good well being. Admittedly I don't think my word choice is good, so extrapolate from this what you can.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but wouldn't starting a group via flyer...
1. Put you at risk of somebody keeping their eye out on you? Stating the location of your "group" via a flier that you post in multiple places just seems like it could invite getting arrested for subversive activities, spied on, or at the very least getting SOMEONE mad for posting shit all over the place without permission. At the very least most agitprop doesn't include places and times.
2. Put the group at the risk of just being... just you talking at people who don't initially understand what you're advocating and telling them why communism is the answer? At least with the typical advertisement for socialist groups you don't have any pretense of NOT being socialist.

Now I understand why fliers are just fliers.
But fuck that, we need to find an answer to this problem as opposed to just leaving it unanswered. I'd honestly rather just link to redmarx instead, we have the framework begun for those interested in intro to Marxism at a very theoretically rigorous level. Revleft is too chaotic.

Seems a little too pointed. This is a flier, try to get across one important systemically different way of thinking to the reader. I mean, I obviously agree with the sentiment, but if you pick up a flyer and it reads (basically) "fuck all the CEOS and such lets have a revolution", you're not really going to think too hard about it. It's just a nice sentiment, but I doubt that it will be very effective at all except as an ideological masturbation-aid.
I'd do a few with a series of basic, yet important, facts pertaining to whatever situation happens to be relevant in your area. Maybe some startling quotes from public figures, statistics and simple yet rigorous statements of position on certain specific struggles. The left needs to create an alternative popular discourse on the state of the world as it is today, and such a development can start only where empty sloganeering ends.

I just think that a website would be a dead end. Setting up meetings with a place and time might be okay if you meet in a more public place, but what do I know?

This DOES sound like a good idea to do a flier series on, but unfortunately I'm completely unaware of any struggles going on in or around my area. With a lack of knowledge of local issues I try and stick to more broad things that are easily applicable to specific situations.

On the contrary, I felt like the first one's focus was on how voting is pointless, and the second was more about revolution broadly speaking. I really don't get the "fuck CEOs" vibe here at all.
I also really don't want to take this to a moralistic level about, oh look how little they contribute yet they get so much money. That's not what Communism is to me so I'd like to avoid that.

For the next flier how about something more directed. I'll try and tackle the storming of the port that just happened, I'll advertise for a rally to demonstrate about setting free those that were arrested.
I'm fairly poor on rhetoric here so if anyone could offer some basic pointers on what to discuss that'd be cool.
Yea I seriously can't think of what to write for this. I was thinking maybe something like, The fight of one worker is the fight of all workers, and talk about Solidarity and expressing solidarity with the port worker's against... what exactly again, how am I going to phrase this hmm..

Don't go for a rally right away. Most likely you'll end up with 5 people with a banner screaming in the middle of the street. Get your ideas out there first, organize, then start thinking about collective activity.

Perhaps mine won't advertise a rally :/
I still can't think of anyway to write this one.

Nice. I like it.
Might I suggest that sometimes a whole paragraph isn't necessary for fliers. Perhaps just a statement to make people think. Perhaps a fact such as "The top one percent owns 40% of Americas wealth."
Then leave a link to a source or a story where they can find out more. Don't necessarily even make it seem political, just informative. Simple facts like that, stick with me for a while.
Idk, just a suggestion. I really do like the poster about solidarity with the port workers. Just a lot of people are too lazy to read whole fliers.
