Hey, everyone. I'm currently majoring in Journalism and I'm considering going to law school once I graduate, but I wanted to get some advice from a leftist perspective. I'm not going into corporate law, because I don't want to hurt the working class, I would like to do something that could help them. I considered going into criminal defense and would offer at cost rates to working class clients as they are the ones who are often the most harmed by our legal system.

I also was wondering if there was anything I could do in regards to labor unions and was wondering if I could possibly work with them and help represent them in court cases.

I guess my question is, can I still aid the working class if I'm a lawyer, because I do want to take a job where I can help people and I don't want to take a job that is anti-worker.

I thought about Law School myself then remembered that I hate paperwork especially the legal kind. I am sure there are some ways you can help the Working Class like being a Public Defender or something of the like. I just know that jobs like that don't pay well and is probably something to consider with all the Student Loans one might acquire along the way if one is living in the United States or other countries with similar education schemes.

You could be a non-profit lawyer. You could consider Environmental Law also.
Remember, law never made a man a whit more just. If you try to help the proletariat, you WILL get stepped on by the big-wigs.
I wish you good luck, though. Law is neither easy nor fun.

You could study corporate law but become a prosecutor of white collar crime. You could also study immigration law or civil rights law.

There's civil rights law, labor law, community development law, criminal (public defender) law, environmental law...

Yeah the main two I'm considering are criminal defense and labor law.

Why destroy a perfect opportunity to do something you like because of ideology? Sure, help us out here and there, but really, we aren't lifestylists.

You can even become a factory owner if you like, but the catch is that we will probably seize your property afterwords, so just be prepared for that :D.

I don't really see any reason why not provided you're not directly aiding the bourgeoisie or some such thing. The working class needs allies such as that. As to what area of law you could go into, I can't rightfully say.

Try being a labour lawyer? Oh yeah, you said it already.

So yeah, all of what Cornet said above plus going on the prosecution against white-collar crime.

I commend you for your efforts and wish you good luck.

Maybe have a "You don't owe me anything unless I win" type of deal.

You could go into the injury law and fight for workers comp. and damages done by the borgeousie.
