What do you guys think? Should porn be allowed in public places?

It should, if only the viewer can see it. Although who on earth would want to look at porn in a public place?

Why does this Paul guy keep shaking his head up and down, he looks like a freaking bobble head doll. I was at the library one time and I caught this guy looking at anime porn. Holy crap it was so awkward, we just stared at each other for like 10 seconds and then I power walked my ass out of there.

I don't see what is so awkward how seeing someone looking at porn in a library, provided he isn't jerking off

People bring their children to libraries. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have my eventual kids seeing some mouthbreather watching a woman getting cum rubbed in her eyes on the computer while I'm trying to find them some easy reading. Actually, come to think of it, I wouldn't want to see that on my own in any context.

yes, but only if the consumer has to wear this:

I pretty much agree with the brothel owner, I think he summed up my opinions on the matter quite nicely.
Also, the arguments of the libertards and constitutionalist nutters are inane; the whole "let's ban everything," argument is such a cop out.

I presume that you would be accompanying your child to the children's section, which in every library I've been to is in a seperate section, sometimes even on a seperate floor (my local library even has its own computers in the children's section). Headphones should be worn anyway, but for porn most certainly. A child old enough to read is old enough to understand the concept of fiction, even if they don't get the appeal of fictional sex.
In any case, it's an opportunity to do some parenting if you haven't already and teach your kid some of the realities of the world before the adolescent hormones start kicking in. Kids aren't stupid, and if they know that they can feel comfortable having a frank discussion with their parent(s) then they will be far more likely to listen to your advice.

A lot of libraries have those computers w/ the screens that you can only see if you look straight into it (and they're a bit lower than the table they're built into, so you could really only see the screen if you were sitting directly in front of the screen).
At least that's how it was in the last metro area I lived in (Austin TX). They were unfiltered computers, too...I always just kind of assumed that they were for porn.

Sounds like your sex life is pretty damn disturbing, not to mention actively misogynist.

Can we at least agree that there are some things it's way classier to do in the privacy of your own home rather than out in public?

The problem is: what is considered pornography or pornographic?

"I know it when I see it." - Potter Stewart, Supreme Court Justice, giving his opinion on what is pornography.

I don't see what classiness has to do with it. As long as someone isn't disruptive, I think they should be able to look up anything they damn well please, especially if their tax dollars funded it.
Think of it like this; one can (or should be able to at least) pick up and quietly read one of Marquis de Sade's works, but it would not be acceptable to read it out loud in the library because it would disturb other people.

If seeing someone get boned on a computer at the library for a couple seconds is the worst thing your child goes through, you're cruising.

Yeah, but why watch porn if one is not going to jack off? It's not gonna happen.

To be fair, they probably have politics more deep than the repetition of the word 'fuck'.

Adding on to this, what do you guys think about public sex? I know we have had this discussion before, but it seems like it has been awhile.
Also, while I did post this in chit-chat and I've been joking around a bit, let's try to avoid the "lockerroom" humor us chit-chatters are known for. I want a semi-serious discussion.

Do designated areas count as "public"?

Hahaha! Nice.
I don't really care either way. I'm not about to look at porn in a public place, but fuck it, there is worse things one can do.
About public sex, I think the thrill of public sex (IMO) is that it is illegal so it is a bit more exciting. If it was made legal, I don't know if the draw would be any more appealing. And besides, if you went to high school, you have probably witnessed public sex.

In a past relationship of mine my partner and I frequently had sex in public places. It didn't really have anything to do with the legality, but more so had to do with the fear of being seen which made it exciting.
When I say public sex I mean conspicuous casual sex in random public places. I feel like there may be a time when people don't care and just was wondering your thoughts on whether you guys would care or whether you guys think it should be allowed under any circumstances.
