I figure I should let everyone know a little about myself since I am now a registered member. I'm a Cajun, a former Republican (don't hold it against me, i've since learned better) and now I would consider myself an Anarchist. Like I said before, I used to be a big time Republican, but I had the tendency to read outside my politics, the whole "know thy enemy" type thing. As I read different things, and had different life experiences, I drifted across the political spectrum, eventually becoming an Anarchist, heavily influenced by Existentialism. I kept one thing from my Republican days though, most importantly my belief in the necessity of firearms to ensure freedom and equality. To quote an old western aphorism, "God created man, Sam Colt made them equal." But now I believe you can't place all your trust in a document to secure your rights, you must do that yourself. I always took great pride in my Cajun heritage, and the fact that the Cajuns peacefully coexisted, and even copulated with the Native American tribes in their area, instead of subjugating them and stealing their land as most other Americans did. The Cajuns have had their fair share of hardship in the past, from the expulsion from Nova Scotia by the British, to the enforced assimilation into Anglo American culture by reactionary American elites. My great grandmother told me stories of how she was beaten in school for speaking Cajun French. Due to this fact, unfortunately many Cajuns today cannot speak the traditional language. That's enough for an introduction I believe. I look forward to many good conversations! Vive Libre Camarades!
