The minister announced new guidelines for the enforcement of the minimum wage laws.
In order, as he puts it, to make things more clear...the enforcement of laws will be based on a calculation to a 40 hour work week only.
So workers who work 36 or 38 hours and have a branch agreement which often gives them the right to a higher hourly wage could now be getting less than hourly minimum wage..and the enforcement agencies will not enforce the minimum wage laws for them.
What this boil down to is an attack on minimum wage.
