What is your favourite band name? (one that does or has existed). Don't even have to like the band itself, just the best name.
Also, suggest your own cool band name (one that, as far you know, does not exist)

I think the rule to a good band name is to have three syllable so that it's easier to chant.

My favorite band name, and they have, or had, an internet presence, is Last Good Tooth. I always smile when I think of that name. The names that have already been given, especially Scrambled Debutant, Back Alley Allah, and Corrosion of Conformity, are hilarious!
Friends, thank you for more reasons to smile!

I saw a local band not long ago called the Four Kinnells. Whether you get it or not might depend on your accent.
Various Artists would be a cool band name, but I'm sure it's already been done.

Roaring Jack, Silly Wizard, Stiff Little Fingers, Oi Polloi, Mastodon. Special mention for Eyehategod, too, because I've never quite been able to figure out exactly how seriously it was meant to be taken.
I think the rule to a good band name is to have three syllable so that it's easier to chant.
Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Areosmith, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Pantera, etc.
Nah, nah, you're wanting four syllables, so you can do the old "Blah-blah blah-blah *thump thump thumpthumpthump*". That's the best kind of chant.

After having a little time to think about it, the best band name ever has to be Shit. They were a fake band in the film Joe's Apartment. Their poster was amazing.

I see that still nobody has been able to beat Manic Street Preachers. So I suppose this question has now been unequivocably answered and should be recorded in all halls of learning that the Manic Street Preachers have the greatest band name now, and likely to the end of time, when the fluctuation of the sun render this planet lifeless and erradicate all human life and culture.
But, some other band names I like:

65 Days of Static
A Flock of Seagulls
A Sunny Day in Glasgow
Alcoholic Faith Mission

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is a pretty good one too.
I always wished the music was as good as the name. Wishful thinking, eh?

In that case, unless they predate the Stone Roses, it makes it a pretty fucking stupid band name.

I'll happily play the wimpy kid here, but I really dig CFTPA. Saw his last ever Scottish show and thought he was excellent. Saying that I've seen this act a few times and it never disappointed, but I guess generally it's more in tune with a lot of the stuff that i'm into.

Welcome to the world of screamo. Compared to I Would Set Myself on Fire for You, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, A Fine Boat, that Coffin!, Only for the Sake of Aching, and Tunes for Bears to Dance to, I would say I Am The Resurrection isn't that terrible of a name in comparison.

If i were to start a punk band, the name would be either "Dead Labour" or "The kronstadt sailors". A metal band would be called "Walls of Black Blood," or "Black Blood Gravestone," however i'm in a rap group atm, its totally a joke, and we all like the G Funk genre, so we used a play on words and call out band G punk.

Oh come on! naming your band after a Philip K. Dick novel is inspired. The only problem with it is that it is too obvious. The Radioactive Chickenheads on the otherhand is a sublime piece of referencing, I can't believe I didn't include it in my list earlier.

Their name really captures the mediocre world of anonymity and is a perfect choice for the band.
