Why should they? Marriage is a civil contract between consenting adults, despite the crap spewed out by the religious right about it being some kind of "institution", which is merely bullshit to cover up their homophobia.

It is possible for 2 people to live together and live like they're married without being married, why the hell would you stop other people from getting married if they want to? I mean, personally I'd never get married, but I don't see anything useful in preventing other people from doing so.

who says you need to be monogamous in a marriage? i know plenty of people who are married and have healthy open relationships.
civil (i.e. non religious) marriage is nothing but a legal conformation of certain tax, law, contracts and inheritance rights.
heck, i know a open gay guy and a straight guy who are just best friends and room mates who are married only because the gay guy is sick and doesnt want his estranged religious parents to have the final word if someone ever needs to pull the plug..
