"Socialism’s God—Karl Marx: Was He Stupid, Insane…or Possessed?"

I'd say he was possessed... he certainly possessed grounding in reality, which that article certainly seems to lack.

This article is fucking ridiculous. It sounds like whomever wrote this probably got rejected by their high school newspaper (seriously). The part that I thought was really funny was the comments on his hygiene because obviously this is important and obviously, during Marx's time, the ruling class probably were not some equally filthy, cousin fucking inbreds were they? Of course not. I also don't get how they say he was a "devout Christian," when Marx was born a Jew. Bakunin was among Marx's closest associates? Really? This article is so absurd and juvenile it can't even be taken seriously. Apparently the author doesn't understand that poetry doesn't necessarily reflect the actual beliefs of it's author, dumbass.

You guys know "Landover Baptist Church"? It's a forum dedicated to a fictional church, and it's actually a parody of Westboro Baptist Church and such rabid rightwing institutions. Well, when reading the article, my first thought was that this must be a joke, just like that site.

I can't say that I'm not surprised, and what do you expect? Its typical bourgeois media, they don't have a fucking clue what they are writing about and common sense and truth goes out the window. Now I'm pissed off at myself for being pissed off at the same crap and accusations that I hear daily about Marxism, I guess its just same shit different day

The thing that freaks me out is that this weirdo has a BA (assuming) from the University of Oregon, a JD and a Master’s in government and wrote articles in ancient law for some Florida law firm. If all that’s true then I’m worried. An academic who’s not even as circumspect as Willian freakin Buckley. I mean, I can picture this schmuck bent over some primary resources and literally flipping to the middle of some books and saying ah-ha!

The editor of that "journal", Judi McLeod has a backgrond as a right wing Christian fundamentalist. She also seems to have a history of emotional instability.

Wikipedia
Conservative writer Kevin Michael Grace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Michael_Grace) has described McLeod's writing as that of an "emotionally incontinent ninth grader," [6] (http://web.archive.org/web/20080129165311/http://www.theambler.com/jul1-15_05.htm#marsden4) while Toronto Star (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Star) columnist Antonia Zerbisias (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonia_Zerbisias) describes her as "eccentric" and the Canada Free Press as a "whacko news site." [7] (http://thestar.blogs.com/azerb/komedy_korner/index.html)
Toronto Life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_Life) magazine reported that McLeod was harassing city councillor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_City_Council) Betty Disero (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Disero). McLeod had been driving past Disero's home, taking pictures. [8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judi_McLeod#cite_note-TLBD-7)
McLeod published the home address and photograph of Cathy Crowe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathy_Crowe), co-founder of the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee, in the CFP along with what Crowe's lawyer deemed defamatory statements. The lawyer alleged that McLeod was encouraging her readers to harass and even physically attack Crowe. [8] (http://web.archive.org/web/20030520035447/www.canadafreepress.com/archives/2001/7vol8.htm) The paper also published the home address of anti-poverty activist John Clarke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Clarke_%28activist%29) along with a photograph of the house he was renting.

The article of course is hysterical poorly written tripe, good for a few laughs.

The "accusations" leveled against Marx aren't even worth responding to, but I will anyway.

As far as I know the Marx family always paid Helene Demuth and treated her well. The rumors about an affair and a son Karl had with her are dealt with o0n the "Marx myths" website. If Marx did have an "illegitimate" son, this certainly doesn't take anything away from his enormous contribution to humanity.Marx did have a conflicted relationship with his father. Again, so what? His father as I understand wasn't a "capitalist" but was a progressive minded liberal lawyer.Engels helped him out financially. How is this different from capitalist funded right wing think tanks paying scholars to churn out their nonsense?

As far as "demonic possession" goes, this is something which would only make sense from within the worldview of an extreme Christian fundamentalist. Its a very good way to avoid engaging in thought. "Get thee behind me, oh Satan".Marx did admire Prometheus and some of his early romantic poetry did have a "demonic" aspect. For me this would be a big plus.

Doing a bit of research on the Canada Free Press (all their articles that I've seen seem to be on the US, it seems to be indirectly connected to Mr. Murdoch's empire.

I think you underestimate the average protestant conservative.

Anecdotally:

My mother worked at a church for quite a few years, I usually attended for christmas, easter, and mother's day, you know, time that you would usually spend with your mom/family.

So one mother's day I'm at church with her, and she had worked there for quite sometime, the people in the church knew me, knew me well. I would say their congregation had about 500 members, so not a big church, but not a small one.

The pastor is preaching about the importance of a mother's role in raising children and how vital their role is in bringing up good christians, and how their position is even more important in times like ours, where "godless marxist infidels" control our institutions of education.

The church's assistant pastor, who also happens to be my lawyer, once asked me, since I was an anarchist, if I could answer a question of his about Bakunin, he asked if Bakunin was a satanist, I laughed and told him that Bakunin was an atheist, so obviously he couldn't believe in satan, but was fond of using satan as an allegory for rebellion. He told me that whether Bakunin believed in satan or not, he was in fact a satanist. Oh well, at least he's a good lawyer, and gives me a fair price when I need him.

Ask him if you can be a Christian if you don't believe in God. Say stuff like, Whether or not Hitlet believed in Jesus Christ, he was in fact, a Christian.

Seriously though, I don't understand why you still attend church...Maybe its just because I came from a secular family with "loose morals", but I could never understand why many people go to church despite not being that religious.

Canada Free Press is much like World Net Daily or Glenn Beck. They are not even good right-wing news agencies, just childish rants. No point in even giving them the time of day.

I don't attend church. I do stuff with my family on days that are traditionally days you spend with family because I love them.

If its mother's day and my mom wants to go to church, I will oblige her out of love/respect.

He would say that no, one could not be a christian, he's implying that whether or not Bakunin believes in God/Satan, that he is doing satan's work, and since, according to his (the pastor's) world view, God does exist, bakunin is, in action a satanist, if not in belief.

This has by far, topped my list of "stupid crap I've read in the past 19 years".

Reading this made me feel like I had some sort of demented bipolar disorder, radical and rapid swings between laughter and rage.:cursing::laugh::cursing::laugh::cursing:

Gawd, that site and article was like if someone took my grandmothers essence and put it on the internet. She'd agree with every word and forward it to 500 people including me(she frequently does this, why I don't know since she knows I'm a Marxist. Perhaps, its some pathetic attempt to show me the errors of my ways. Got a video from her made by the oaks institute on how Obama was a Marxist, mild left of center liberals where Commies and how the UN wanted to take away our guns)
