I found this interesting little tool on another forum:

http://ngrams.googlelabs.com/graph?content=new+york%2Cchicago%2Cboston%2Clos+an geles&year_start=1900&year_end=2008&corpus=0&smoothing=3

It basically measures the amount of times words appear in book titles and you can make graphs.

I did this one with major Marxists (I had some Anarchists before, but they were close to the bottom, around where Hoxha is). Interestingly ''Marx'' only reached its peak in 1980, since then all the figures have crashed in popularity.

I also did this one:

The "wave" on this last one ^^^ is odd.

before you get any weird ideas, youll see that this is about the percentage of titles. all under 1 per cent. but in the 1600s hardly that many books were written and so titles may have been more common. either that or there was a serious mis calculation.

Typing in pretentious academic jargon into this thing is hilarious.
