I just watched the movie, it was pretty good. What did everyone else think of it?

The ending is kind of depressing though.

Well I also thought it was really good but man I freaked out in the scene where Derek stomps the black guy with the teeth on the pavement.

Good film, but as others have said, it makes for very grim viewing..

It's a really rough movie, but the things it shows (I think) need to be shown. This is what white supremacism entails. I think every leftist ought to see this movie, if only for the purpose of understanding the enemy's mindset.

It's a good film and it covers topics that I feel should be touched upon more often.

It's good because it doesn't really have this kumbaya-hippie feeling to it.

I dont really get the curbstomp scene. The guy can choose between a bullet in the brain or getting curbstomped to death.

Personally I'd waaaay rather get shot in the head.

I feel that they were spot on in describing the Modern Nazi:

JhAq7GwXqrU

Adolf would be so proud that his followers are now dirty, disgusting idiots with tattoos all over their body and large green mohawks while listening to music of a guy with long hair screaming nonsensical phrases.

What kind of movie are you comparing American History X to, that you get a kumbaya-hippie feeling?

I freaked out in the scene where Derek stomps the black guy with the teeth on the pavement.

I thought that part wasn't too bad, to me, at least, the rape scene was worse

An entertaining film, but one which ultimately preaches conformity, anti-politics, and co-operation with the establishment. Racism is the product of some white skinheads, apparently, and the police are the good guys. 'Life is too short to be angry all the time' (Derek's brother), and our actions should be evaluated by the question 'Has anything you've done made your life better?', to quote the black headmaster. The message is not just anti-fascism, but anti-'extremism' in general.

There's a sex scene early on between the older brother and his girlfriend, though the girlfriend's moaning is rather...disconcerting at first. I was watching the film with a friend, and we both thought at first that that was the rape scene. We fast-forwarded through it until we realized what was really going on.

Come to the actual rape scene in prison, though, my friend happened to be in the kitchen at the time. I told her about the scene, and she had me go back so she could watch.

I haven't watched it in some years... a long [email protected]!!! I found it disturbing.. the curb scene, the melon in the grocery store scene.. those stand out as a lot of the rest of the film has faded from memory. however, I think the most shocking part was Edward Norton's transformation into a realistic neo-nazi, as the former parts he played in movies never alluded to that. it was like :blink::blink:!

i thought the end was very unrealistic and neatly tied up.

But, the Edward Norton character was very realistic of the ideological change that neo nazi kids, teenagers and young adults do end up renouncing. There is a whole compendium of it.
