My son is going through a competency based selection process for a job. One of the competencies is equality, diversity and fairness. I formed the view that word fairness is added to qualify the first two words i.e. being fair to all and fair acceptance of diversity. Would you agree with me that there is no absolute definition of what is and what is not ‘fair?’ Would you agree with me that what is and what is not fair is whatever is or is not the accepted cultural norms of that society? But then who sets the cultural norms of a society, the shepherds or the sheep?
