Fuck this. (http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2011/08/23/group-wants-next-president-to-%E2%80%98investigate%E2%80%99-lgbt-opponents/)

Earlier this month, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) (http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2010/winter/the-hard-liners), one of the most visible and active anti-gay marriage groups, asked all serious contenders for the GOP nomination for president to sign its so-called Marriage Pledge.
It some ways, it was just another pledge being sought from political conservatives, like the one that many Republicans have signed promising never to vote for higher taxes. The NOM pledge obligates signers to oppose same-sex marriage, support a federal amendment defining marriage as limited to one man and one woman, and back the appointment of judges and an attorney general who will respect the original meaning of the Constitution and defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which denies the legal federal benefits of marriage to same-sex couples.
No particular surprises there. But there is one especially sinister provision: the NOM pledge promises that signers, upon election, will appoint a presidential commission to investigate harassment of traditional marriage supporters.

I don't know about you, but I proudly support the harassment of "traditional marriage supporters".

So...I take it that in the context given "harassment" means: speaking out against or advocacy of non traditional marriage.

It is an open provision which sounds nice and all, pretending it is a provision based on protecting people and induviduals......but in actuality it means a prelude to prosecution of non traditional marriage supporters and in particular the LGBTQ activists.

Disgusting.

Its a shame Bash Back! seems to have vanished. We could do with more direct action vs. these bigots.

This is absurd but really no surprise considering Republicans have to act like they are in their 'terrible twos'.

"Gimme, gimme, gimme, MINE! MINE!"

America, the freest land in the world indeed.

Wait responding to someone's bullshit in kind is harassment?! Yes let's convene a congressional panel to investigate people for exercising their first amendment rights. Like, anti-queer McCarthyism? That's scary shit.

Totalitarianism: The Republican's wet dream

I honestly wonder how many republicans are "just" ultra-conservative and how many are fascist; cause the lines seem to blur sometimes...

This makes me sick.

How can someone possibly talk about freedom and rights if they won't even give rights to certain people.

During the early days of the neo-con movement they were big fans of Franco, then later of Pinochet, now they aren't far from bringing that totalitarianism here. If they get in I'm sure the dems will make a stink about being the great opposition while following the gop line on all of the important bills, as per track record.

It's a result of a confused and hateful ideology where "Not hating" must mean "aggressively advocating"

They literally cannot fathom any position inbetween "I want fags to die in hell" and "I want gay marriage to be mandatory"
