I don't really know how to introduce myself. I took a somewhat extended break from the internet, ha!

Well, I am almost 30 years old now... wow. I am Bosniak and I live with my Croat husband and, mostly, with my sister and niece. They have their own place but they're mostly with me, I mean.

My father was a Muslim fundamentalist by our standards. He even had a beard, ha! My mother was a very devoted socialist, but still religious. Just not... ritual religious. She was substance religious. I don't think she went a single day of her life without wearing something red.

I was raised in a socialist country. Yugoslavia was, in our minds, a paradise then. We had all the wealth of Scandinavia without the oppression of the Soviet Union. We could travel, everything. But, then, the war... we used to throw our garbage over the border for the people to eat. And their countries are now in the European Union ahead of us. War is stupid. Don't do it to your own country.

Anyway, socialism, to me, it's not just some... ideal. I lived it. I was young, yes, but I remember. It was so much better than now. That's pretty much all we across the former Yugoslavia can agree on these days.

And, I would post a song but I'm too new to do so. In this case, I would like my first song to you to be Doris Dragovic "Hej Jugosloveni!". You can Youtube. It's a nice, socialist song. :)

OK, I hope to meet some nice people here! :) Especially Americans and Danish. I am Muslim and I don't know enough of them...and I want them to get to know people like me and not just the... idiots.

Have a wonderful day! :)

Hey welcome :) What is your tendency?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand exactly what you're asking?

I assume it's asking for a specific label for my politics that isn't regional, one you can understand?

If so... think of me as being as liberal as Scandinavia but as morally guarded as Turkey. I have very strict expectations of myself... I just don't think they should impact anyone else in society unless they also choose so.

It's like... the veil. I wear one a lot of the time... when I go to mosque, when it's foggy or my hair is bad, at weddings, funerals, and so on. On normal, daily things I rarely wear one. I don't think anyone should be able to tell me I can or can't wear it.

In Saudi Arabia, I'd have to wear it. I HATE that. At the same time, in Turkey it's banned on universities. Thousands and thousands of Turkish woman come to Bosnian universities because they're unwilling to remove their veils and so can't get higher education in Turkey. That's equally offensive to me.

So... socialist, I think, is the best term for me. :) Or, perhaps, Partizan, if you have that term.

And if this is not what you were asking, I will just chew my foot and swallow it. ;)

I'm not quite sure what you mean exactly by fundamentalist. I am Muslim and I have quite a long beard in fact. Either way, assalaamu alaikum sis and welcome to the forum.

As for what the othe member was asking he meant, are you Marxist? Anarchist? What?

Dzerko! It's nice to meet you. :) Wa'selam'u'aleikom... is that close? Ha!

Well, for us, a beard was quite rare. It's like... covering the face. It's all the women in Saudi Arabia, and has been for decades. But, in the Balkans, it's unheard of. I can count on hand the number of women I have seen like that.

So, my father's beard... he's the only one in my family and among my friends who had that. :D

Tendency means your type of leftism, eg: anarchism, marxist-Leninist(-Stalinist), moaist etc.

Welcome, you sound very interesting. But I do wonder, where are you currently residing? Are you involved in any partys? And i am a specific part of Marxist-Leninist-stalinist, called vangaurdism

I see, kind of strange, I would expect atleast some bros to have it and not it basically be a rarity.

So would you call yourself a Titoist, since you're a fan of his Yugoslavia?

You made my eyes water a little. So I think my answer must be yes. I love this word! :) Titoist.

But I hate his awful wife. ;) They only made him marry her because of WWII.

Ah, fair enough, I was unaware it was a shortned version of the name.

I look forward to your posts, even if you are a Titoist. ;)

Don't make me declare a jihad on you. ;) Because I will.

Nothing wrong with Titoist. It's a beautiful word for a beautiful thing! Ha!

By the way, it's nice because Dzeka is the common nickname for my real life name. :)

I NEVER NOTICED UNTIL YOU SAID! (Sorry, I am still getting used to the format).

Oh, HOXHA! :D I love Albania. You have no idea. Tirana, Gjirokastra, Berat, the Blue Lagoon, all of it. I have been too!

We drove from Prizren (had to see the biggest Bosniak population in Kosovo) to Tirana and then on to Albanian areas of Macedonia.

I was impressed, first of all, with how many people spoke Cro/Bos/Srb--and how kind they were.

Because, you know, in Plav-Gusinje, and areas like that, there's some tension between Bosniaks and Albanians...

But people were SO nice. Everyone treated me as some sort of celebrity.

And the single men flirted so cutely. It was just so charming and respectful.

I can't tell you how many Albanian men bought my HUSBAND a drink when they realized (I told) I was married.
