View Full Version : I can't get a hangover!
A Revolutionary Tool
23rd August 2011, 06:56
I just had probably one of the craziest weekends I've had in years and I've come to the conclusion that I'm super-human because I haven't gotten so much as one hangover.
Thursday is my sister's fiance's bachelor party and I'm invited and I got super fucked up, I got cross-faded, can't remember most of the night. It was basically like The Hangover(movie) except for I wasn't slipped drugs and I had no hangover. I felt woozy for like 10 minutes when I woke up but then felt fine while everybody else was complaining about headaches, stomach aches, were throwing up, etc, and they didn't even get as messed up as I did.
Friday I go to a party, finish about a quarter of Crown Royal, sip on some Malibu and beers, and go to sleep at 2:00 in the morning. Wake up at 6:45 Saturday feeling fine, go to breakfast, get ready for my sister's wedding, etc. My cousin who I brought to the party did basically what I did and was hungover the whole day and sat at the back of the wedding near the garbage can because he thought he would throw up while I stood up there by my sister and her husband as a groomsman for thirty minutes feeling just fine.
Saturday after the wedding is the reception, I take 7 shots of vodka, drink some punch shit with alcohol in it, a few beers and everything is good when I wake up in the morning. My sister's husband(now my brother I guess), his cousins, my cousins, and my parents all wake up and don't do shit the whole day because they're all fucked out of their minds with a hangover so they leave me and a few other people to clean stuff up.
I've always been like this, I'll drink alcohol and when I wake up everybody else is complaining about headaches and are throwing up and shit while I'm sitting there laughing at them.
Is this normal, are any of you like this? Am I just extremely lucky to have this trait? Should I immediately get this checked out at the hospital?

I was like that for awhile but now I get hangovers. Enjoy it while it lasts. Or just keep drinking when you wake up, I've noticed that helps.

I am very similar, I was at a party a couple nights ago for my friends birthday. I ended up falling asleep at 5:30 am...trashed. woke up at 11am, went home, cleaned up, went to the gym for acouple of hours and then went to the theater. Zero problems. I guess it depends on genetics more than anything.

If you're young that'll probably change when you get old. That, or, you're just a severe alcoholic with mad tolerance.

Don't tell me I'll get over it! I'm surrounded by people younger than me getting hangovers!
No I'm not drinking water while drinking, just chasers sometimes which are usually soda or pineapple juice.
o well this is ok I guess

too much liquid and shit
replace that punch shit and those beers with equal portions of VODKA

This and take a few rips off an ether rag and tell me how you feel in the morning.
Also tell me where you got the ether.

That's how ya do it. On wensday all I had to drink was a couple 40s and a fuck ton of vodka.
Personally I don't do chasers and I don't do cups. I chug from the bottle.

Hahaha I'm not exactly sure about myself. Like I said, I just chug from the bottle. Then once I'm trashed I keep drinking anyways so I never know exactly how much it takes. My thought process is: More alcohol=Happier Me

And cheers to that thought process!

Yeah that's usually my thought process too, basically drink until I pass out/throw up/can't lift up the container anymore. Or of course until the alcohol is gone, which makes it into a sad day :(.

Damn I wish it took me 3 shots, would be much more economical than 7 shots of Vodka, a few beers, and some cups of this punch shit. Or a quarter of Crown Royal, some Malibu, and a few beers. Three shots, that's fucking crazy man. How much do you weigh dude?

You could go around collecting the little dregs at the bottom of the bottles. Usually you can get a shot from doing that.
Though afterwards I recommend AA.

I have never thrown up from drinking too much* which is very surprising to me seeing as that I will down over a half bottle of Vodka in a sitting.
*I threw up once while drunk but it wasn't because I drank too much or anything.

Neither have I, it was one time when my friend and I drank a whole bottle of wine and a beer. It's not that much alcohol, I've drank more and not thrown up, but I think I did because afterwards I was doing a bunch of cart-wheels, "judo" rolls, spinning around. I just yacked all over the place twice and decided I just needed to sleep. lol that was a fun night while it lasted.

I'm pretty surprised I didn't have a hangover on the bachelor party night. I mean it was literally like the hangover the movies, we start off smoking weed and taking shots. I remember like 5 shots of Vodka(Shots which were in a cup, so it was more like 2 shots per cup) and 5 blunts in a hotel room and that's it. We started off in a Stockton hotel and when I wake up I'm in San Jose spooning with some girl I just met, surrounded by McDonald's wrappers, look around and don't recognize a single person. Later I see all the pictures they took and it was a pretty fucking crazy night, they thought at one point that I had died, yet I wake up with no hangover at all! I'm a super-human

Same shit...I only remember being hungover once and I woke up only a few hours after being faded when it was still night. When I woke up in the morning it was gone.
I went to a birthday on Saturday, kept taking shots, downed some brew, went home, and woke up three to four hours later feeling good.
Part of it has to be due to my caffeine intake; I use multiple dietary supplements.

I can relate, I drink constantly (99.9% of my posts here are drunk posts) and I only drink liqour without water or chasers and I never get hangovers. The only time recently that I have seemed to have one is the same night I got my ass beat but by then I had consumed 2 bottles of vodka and was working on finishing my flask of rum. But even then it was just a headache and gut rot which after I went to the cafe and got some coffee, meat and shisha in me I was fine. I would be curious to know the medical explaniation of this.

As a rule I don't get hangovers. I have had for in my life and have thourghly deserved each one of them. The last time I had one was about a decade ago. I started on half a bottle of whiskey, followed it up with ten beers (Turkish standard glasses are bigger than UK/US ones. It is just over twelve of yours), and then washed it down with a litre of 80% (by volume which is 160% proof) of Poteen. I felt really bad afterwards. I imagine if you did the same you would have a hangover too. it all depends on how much you drink, but everyone can get there.

Only reason any of you wouldn't be getting hangovers is if you aren't drinking enough or you're drinking lots of other liquids with it.
DRINK MOAR!!!
Seriously though, don't drink more. Enjoy having a lower tolerance and not drinking to the point you feel like shit every time you get drunk.

I'm exactly the opposite of that. I always have a headache. I mean every single day. I have at least one or two of varying severity everyday. I have one right now. So honestly I don't think I could tell if I was hung over.

That's called the "hair of the dog that bit you". :)
I usually get a light hangover. Annoying and uncomfortable, but not so bad that I can't function normally. I've thrown up twice though, once on gin and the other on vodka, both alone after like 6-8 shots. The gin was my first drunk so I'm not surprised I puked. The vodka I drank too fast and on an empty stomach.
I don't drink much though, so my tolerance is all, but zero. I prefer to smoke the devils lettuce. :redstar2000::wub::redstar2000:

I don't get hangovers or at least I didn't when I was drinking more often which was nearly always Vodka drinks or just plain Vodka.
What I do get is headaches from EXPENSIVE wine.
The box wine is fine, the $5/bottle stuff is ok... Well, maybe not great but no headache. Let someone buy me that $20, $50, $100/bottle stuff and OW  instant headache.

It have a lot to do with the quality of the booze you are drinking.
booze with a high degree of impurity will make you sicker than the good stuff beccause your body will work hard to evacuate those impurity from your system ASAP.
your body might also be verry good at cleaning those toxin, who now!

The only time i had a hangover was when i woke up in the hospital, I drank like 4 drinks called cheetah, it is done with pisco-like 40° latin beverage-it is basically 90% pisco and 10% soft drink-the idea is to separate the alcohol from the soft drink...you first serve the coke or whatever and then with a spoon you separate it...one can really leave you dumb...4 can kill you.

These things are individual, but I also tend to agree with those who point out that age is an important factor here. It seems like most people can drink rather excessively without getting too bad hangovers until a certain age, usually before the mid twenties. I've met some people older than that who claim that they 'never get hangovers', but they aren't many (and I'm not sure I believe all of them).
I personally did get severe hangovers when I first tried alcohol, when I was about 14 years old. But then, when I started drinking more regularly a few years later, I soon learned the easy tricks -- such as drinking lots of water, taking a headache pill, eating well etc. Then came a period of virtually no hangovers. I could party all night and only feel a little tired the next morning, perform well at work etc.
Those were the days..! :)
This went on until a critical point when I was 24, when I started to feel too tired and nauseous the day after a night of drinking more than a few beers. At first this could still be managed with an aspirin and by drinking lots of coffee, redbull and crap, but eventually I started getting anxiety attacks in such situations.
This led me to the realise my limits, which are about a sixpack of beer the night before work or some other important activity. This has been working well so far, I'm 30 years old atm.

To get all sciency for a minute, a lot of this can have to do with your levels of alcohol consumption. In the first place, when you're young, most people haven't built the kind of tolerance to consume enough alcohol to actually cause a hangover. The ones who have generally don't get them because the organs involved in processing booze and water retention (the key to avoiding hangovers is hydration levels since they're caused by the diuretic properties of alcohol) are still in prime working order.
After years and years of consumption, though, these organs (like the liver, stomach, brain, kidneys, what have you) are going to suffer some damage... However minor or major depends on your frequency of use and levels of consumption. The point is, eventually it catches up with you and you'll find yourself with hangovers. This does have something to do with aging, but it also has a lot to do with the consumption of alcohol itself. That, and everybody's different... Some people are just inherently better equipped to deal with alcohol's effects. What I'm saying, though, is that eventually it catches up with you one way or another.

Everyone here who drinks or wants to drink should read the above post. This is what alcohol does to your body. It accelerates your rate of decay.
On the other hand, we are all going to die anyway! Life itself is a Terminal condition.
