Hi!
I want to make this thread so people get to know what is happening on my country.

We are fighting for public education.
-Higher spending of the GDP on education-because it is very low.
-More democracy on higher education institutions, so the students can have words and decisions of who directs the uni.
-Free higher education or at least cheaper tutition fees, because we have one of the worlds highest ones (the minimum wage in my country is 360dollars per month, and the country is NOT cheap).
-End to for profit education institutions, because the quality is REALLY bad and people who study in them do not work in what they studied and have a massive debt-not only because of that, we all know that education can´t be profit based.

The goverment´s proposals have not been very good, just simple touches, but we want a REAL CHANGE.

FOR PROFIT education has caused big problems in my country.

-If we compare kids of families with the same income-public schools are better than the for profit ones.
-These schools have created education for the poor and rich.
-My country is the 2nd of the world with the most unequal education.

For profit universities have also created big problems:

-40-60% of the people that go to these universities DO NOT END their education-and leave with a massive debt.
-50% DO NOT WORK IN WHAT THEY STUDIED-they end up working in tech. jobs.
-It is illegal to profit in higher education, but these institutions do it anyway (the students just want the law to be respected).

Today´s protest has been peaceful (minor incidents). Hundreds of thousands of workers and students protest in the streets.
ALERT:
The minister of health has insulted every single person on the streets, he said that the students in hunger strike were not really in hunger strike (after 30 days of hunger strike).

He said that a father told the kids to continue the hunger strike(lie).
Now he comes with this.

Sadly the protests have gone violent now, of course the violence is the consequence of the bad system:
-Top 10 most unequal countries
-Dual reality-10-15% of the country lives a decent life and the rest lives very bad.
and I can go on and on.

The problem is that the violent people have not attacked only the police but other people that have been protesting...Well in Chile the police tends to use undercover men to throw stones so more join in and the cops have an excuse to attack everybody...So I would not be suprised that if the ones that caused everything are cops (they even did a documentary on these pigs).

The cops are more and more violent...The good thing is that the constitution will soon change, because the protest grow and grow.

Haha yes thanks, Victor Jara, a great human and revolutionary :)
