I'm not sure that I'd be able to cite an example at this point, but the logic seems fairly sound.

"Terrorists" (and it depends on how you define the word) tend to lash out against issues of globalization, imperialism, and so on. I grew up in the Middle East, and the corrosive effect consumerist culture (brought in from the West) was evident all around me. People were angered that their culture and sovereignty were being stripped away from them, and that more and more they were becoming subservient to foreign economic interests who used poverty as a means of exploiting the public and forcing them to lose their national dignity.

However, if there wasn't rampant poverty, corruption would fall, globalization and neocolonialism would be forced out, and the people wouldn't feel the need to lash out.

While I think it's fair to say that curbing imperialist, or oppressive policies, and improving living conditions would be helpful in reducing instances of religious violence, (These are also worth persuing, in-and-of themselves.) I think the economic reductionism commonly exhibited by the Marxist camp is manifestly bogus. Religious fanaticism transcends class boundries. Osama bin Laden is a perfect example; before he became a violent religious extremist, he had no practical experience of oppression, by the West, or anyone else. He was the scion of a construction empire that had close ties to the royal family. His family was not unusually devout. He received a top-notch education at an excellent school. By all accounts, he was a proficient soccer player. Etc., etc.

Fascinating-Yet-Irrelevent-Factoid: Young Osama's favorite television show was Bonanza.
