is it true that some foods can actually induce a higher thermogenesis rate and thus speed up your metabolism? idk, i've heard cinnamon and pepper (along with other substances/foods) can actually help the body burn fat. while i don't doubt that statement, i wonder: is the effect actually substantial or just a curiosity?

Caffine can. Don't know about others. Celery takes more calories to digest than it has.... other than that eat meat it's got the highest digestive calorie cost to it's actual count. just stay away from fatty cuts because fat has the highest.

Peppers and green tea. have a very small effect on burning calories. It increases anywhere between 20-70 calories per day+night. Which means you need to do this a month to lose 1 pound of bodyweight. But hell...it can't hurt...except if you overdo the peppers :)

Everything with lean proteins (chicken, turkey, eggs, fish, shellfish, game) all are highly termogenic. If I remember correctly they require and use 20% of the calories they contain to be burned.

Broccoli, Cauliflower, Berries, Apples, Ginger, Cinnamon (mix with your Yoghurt...tastes goooood :) ) Cabbage, Garlic.

My personal favorite fatburning food are Non sweetened grapefruits incombination with coffee. Thats because one of the chemicals in grapefruits prolonge the thermogenic effects of caffeine. Npt to mention the fact that grapefruits themselves are highly thermogenic. And because the acid composition in grapefruits help the breakdown of fat...and break down insulin.

Half a grapefruit helps. Though when you are using anti anxiety meds or anti-histamines you may want to avoid them....

One of the only big differences I notice between Bosnian cuisine (we loook like Adriana Lima until about 35, and then Danny Devito after that) is we eat our biggest meal is lunch. But Americans, they had their biggest meal in the evening, before bed. That's unhealthy to us! You would NEVER do that. It would be like going out in snow naked. Everyone would stare.

If you really want to effect your metabolism, eat a ketogenic diet.

All the rest of the tricks are pretty much a waste of time.
