I am applying to a graduate program and even though I feel like my application is strong, I am still nervous.

The admissions advisor said that their program has a 70% acceptance rate.

Does this mean the program is rather easy to get into?

That sounds pretty easy to me. I hope you can get in.

Yes. I would be more nervous about their job placement rate than their acceptance rate, tho.

At this point I figured it would be up to me to look for work anyways.

Yes, in my experience acceptance rates that high usually mean they're easy to get into. Doesn't mean the work given is easy though, that's more or less 50/50.

That should be true irrespective of the program or, for that matter, it's difficulty in getting in.

Which program is this, by the way? I myself am applying to grad programs, and if I can't get in anywhere else, throwing in a school that's at 70% doesn't sound like a bad fallback at all.

I called the department and asked about the status of my application, they tlook my name and number down and said they would get back to me but I have yet to hear from them since yesterday morning. I know they're probably busy with the new academic year and all but did it look bad that I called to ask them about my status?

Does their not calling me back seem like a bad sign or am just being overly anxious?

I'd assume that it's just nerves. Give it a bit and try not to worry (as impossible as I'm sure that is).

Thanks! :)

I received the acceptance letter today!

Our schools are wholly based upon grade average, not silly letters and such things.
