I have noticed that there was an interesting similarity in the uniform haircuts adopted by female cadre in various revolutionary movements at the time.... so here are my observations.

Vietnam - China ..pigtailed or short. Very common in Red Guards
Cambodia (KR) - short cut (uniform)
North Korea - short cut (uniform)

Why ??...was this actual party policy for Women in the KWP,WPV,CPK and CCP?

Just curious if anyone has any real explanation.

I'd assume long hair was associated with the aristocracy or bourgeois women, whereas short hair was associated with the gloriously revolutionary oneness of the men and women or something.

Short hair is probably beneficial if you are sleeping on the ground. Less problem with bugs settling on the head.
