Armored attack bears, they're like the attack dogs of games past, except they roar and are armored bears.

I love the sound track to the third one. "Soviet March" has to be the most over the top crazy awesomeness I've ever heard.

Not really a fan, but I played RA2 when I was in middle school.

RA1 and RA2 kicked serious ass. RA3 was fail all the way besides the main theme song which was brutal. I thank Westwood for introducing me to the Soviet Union and subsequently communism at the age of 9... without them I would have discovered these somewhere else like school or some other ghastly shithole.

Even though they certainly have propagandist tone in them, I love how stupidly cheesy they are. Third game is nice because it doesn't require massive amounts of micro, gameplay is smooth, hilarious cutscenes (President Ackerman, Premier Cherdenko and Emperor "Sulu" Yoshiro) and how it mocks all sides mercilessly. Soundtrack is excellent of course, allies have rocking hyperspeed metal mixup, soviets have something resembling old march songs with modern instruments and japanese have mix of traditional music and j-pop.

I didn't hate RA3, but compared to the other two Red Alerts it failed. It was rushed, EA just rammed it off to make some quick cash out of the franchise. Compared to something like CoH that was released 2 years prior to RA3... it just wasn't up to scratch (imo).

you can't really compare any RTS to RA2 and expect the other game to really be seen as better.

That's true. RA2 was a masterpiece.

One thing I will always enjoy from Red Alert no matter the number is its concept artwork.

Look at my avatar, and THEN ask me if I'm a fan.

RA3 was shit compared to RA2 it seems they spend 95% of their time on the videoclips instead of the game.

Red alert and C&C are dead to me now except generals but i do not consider that C&C anyway.

All i want is generals 2 that is more sophisticated then the first one.

I've played both of the first two games, though the bulk of my experience has been with RA2. The third game seems a bit too much "out there" for me, though I will probably buy it one day just to see Takei and Lee hamming it up. I always enjoyed the city maps in RA2. I tended to prefer the Allies for their navies.

Alas, I can't seem to play either RA2 or Yuri's Revenge on my Vista without it crashing randomly.
