A first-person shooter videogame available in China puts the player in the shoes of a member of the People's Liberation Army. After undergoing basic training, the player is sent off into combat against what appears to be US troops and helicopters. "Glorious Mission," based off a US video game (Americas Army), is shown in overseas news as becoming popular with military members in China

People in the US are up in arms about this game because it portrays the US as the antagonist, which funnily enough in reality - it is.

The game will be released in 2012 commercially, expect to see more coverage of this when it is released.

I must have this game.

Also the second song in the second video reminds me of Metal Gear music, only not as good.

The graphics and gameplay remind me so much of Battlefield 2.

In any Action Game today you had US Marines fighting other none americans, so whats the big fucking deal if sides are switched...playing for the good guys for once

Looks like an updated version of Battlefield 2 or Armed Assault 1... not bad really. I do hope they bring out a localised English version, it'll be refreshing to sit through some Chinese nationalism for a change

I'd like to respond with some comment about how this is wrong but after Vietnam, Both Iraq wars, Afghanistan, and now libya, there is not logical argument for us to not be the antagonists in games. Especially when china the usual fall guy for the bad guys hasn't attacked anyone TMK directly in almost 100 years.

I wish the PRC wasn't the protagonist though. I'm still waiting for the Spanish Civil War video game(why write new, crappy plots when history has created masterpieces).

It took me a minute to figure out what a Yanqui was.

Dude I absolutely despised the online component of homefront, and to single player was totally mediocre.

Biggest let down.

The single player was alright it needed to be a LOT longer, the online component is okay. The controls are nice, the drone mechanics are cool. overall i'd give the online a C+. But it's the game I'm a platoon leader in on my clan so I have to stick with it for now until BF3 comes out.

Of course not as good: there's only one game in history with better BGM than Metal Gear Solid.

Tekken 2.

It's actually pretty interesting because it shines light on the way that the US and US companies do this constantly and everyone is just expected to be cool with it.

Does anyone see a little bit of irony in that the PRC is making this game with the USA as enemies yet the PRC scared the USA into not having the PRC be the the enemies in the remake of Red Dawn?

well they're more likely than china. china ain't doing nothing anytime soon unless the repugs get in and tell china to go stick our debt to them where the sun don't shine.

What is this crap about? At least the American military released their propaganda FPS "America's Army" for free.

They might release domestic copies free for recruitment and then sell the game internationally. Just a thought.

I remember because I got bored of it after finding out all the bullshit you go through in "training" about being a medic had exactly two tenths of fuck all to do with the healing mechanic. Oh, also it was buggy as shit and full of shouty morons.
