The US Defence Department says it will not reopen investigations into alleged Vietnam War atrocities, despite new claims.

According to an investigation by the Ohio-based Toledo Blade newspaper, the elite Tiger Force unit of the Army's 101st Airborne Division killed hundreds of unarmed villagers over seven months in 1967.

I went to the memorial in Me Lai (spelling), when I was 15, and not yet a socialist, and I cried!,.....
I also know that the only reason I cried, was because there where photos....

That's just like any army. You see when an army is about to loose a war, they panic, become paranoid, and they take out their frustration on the population. That's one thing I hate about war,it's not the government nor the economy that gets hurt the most,it's the people.

Now we guess we know why the US is so vehemently against teh International World Court!!! "We want Freedom and Justice for all!!! Except everyone outside of teh states and who isn't a White Middle Class Surburban Male or Female!! God Bless America!!!" I actually got into a fight with some Vietnam vet once...he couldn't answer any of my questions on this policy of "we" get what justice but "the other guy" can't against us. Double Standards much?

Yeah, I read about this stuff in the newspaper. Well, what do you expect?
It's a war. War brings out the worst in people. It brings out racism, hate, and all sorts of nasty stuff. You can't really blame alot of the GI's.
They were pawns. However, I do think they should be held accountable for some of the more barbaric crimes commited. For example, killing civilians and cutting thier ears off.

Anyways, the military industrial complex started Vietnam and continues to start wars today. My only prayer is that George W. Bush will lose the election in November. The future of the world is at stake.

Well that is what happens with soldiers, they get mad from the battlefield, the clashing of bone and sinew. They do unspeakable things since they are driven to the limit. Some you can blame, some you can't but that they will try to cover it up, doesn't suprise me one bit <_<

“Honestly, it’s a little tougher than I thought it was going to be,” Lott said. In a sign of frustration, he offered an unorthodox military solution: “If we have to, we just mow the whole place down, see what happens. You’re dealing with insane suicide bombers who are killing our people, and we need to be very aggressive in taking them out.”
That is from a senator in America, If we have to, we just mow the whole place down, see what happens. I think that pretty much sums up America's attitude to foreign policy.

I have yet to see the criminals of the My Lai Massacre be put to a firing squad. Even their commander was only put into prison for life, and later was aquitted. Shows you the sense of justice in American "democracy."
