Were those of the Chicago School particularly wealthy themselves?
I mean, obviously they were Economists and so had some theoretical integrity to their views, but to what extent were the likes of Friedman, Hayek and Lucas recipients of vast amounts of wealth?

I think that Friedman had a working class background being the son of Jewish immigrants, whereas Hayek was born into the nobility, presumably both enjoyed a fairly large amount of wealth later in their lives

From the 'Friedrich Hayek' page on Wikipedia:
"Hayek was born in Vienna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna) (then a capital of Austria-Hungary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austria-Hungary)), and was the son of a doctor in the municipal health service. Hayek's grandfathers were prominent academics working in the fields of statistics and biology. His paternal line had been raised to the ranks of the Austrian nobility (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_nobility) for its services to the state. Similarly, a generation before his maternal forebears had also been raised to the lower noble rank."
From the 'Milton Friedman' page:
Friedman was born in Brooklyn, New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooklyn,_New_York), to recent Jewish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish) immigrants Jenő Friedman and Sára Landau from Beregszász (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beregsz%C3%A1sz) in Hungary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Hungary_1700%E2%80%931919) (now Berehove (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berehove), part of Ukraine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine)), both of whom worked as dry goods (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_goods) merchants. Shortly after Milton's birth, the family relocated to Rahway, New Jersey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahway,_New_Jersey).
