Won't happen. Would be cool if it did, but it won't. Facebook has too large a capacity, it's the same problem like when we attacked Amazon. We had an amazing amount of energy and steam and we gambled and tried to go big and bring Amazon down but we failed, and our wave crashed. We had over 100,000 people all going full steam too and we couldn't do it.

There are more important things Anonymous could be doing than shutting down FB, like Anti-Sec for example.

Anonymous is a somewhat diffuse hacker group which as I understand got their start trolling and hacking the Scientology cult. Its difficult to define membership, . They've been inspired by the movie "V For Vendetta" and generally wear Guy Fawkes masks and protest against Scientology and for freedom of information. Over the past year they've mounted attacks against Paypal, Visa and other outfits which denied services to Wikileaks. In a nutshell, thats it.

becareful what you wish for, facebook and the internet went down in statesboro for a few hours a few years ago, and everyone was in a panic because they couldn't check their facebook. Loose it for a few days and their will be riots in the streets.

Hacktivist group Anonymous has renounced the OpFacebook campaign revealed yesterday, which was aimed at "destroying" the social network because of its alleged collusion with oppressive governments and erosion of user privacy.

A YouTube video posted to the site on 16 July seems to be the main source of the rumours of a planned Anonymous attack on Facebook on 5 November. The video features an Anonymous logo, and encourages any would-be hacktivists to "join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy".

At the time, Anonymous did not seem to be able to decide whether the video was a hoax or not. The Anonyops Twitter account first posted a message saying it was indeed a fake. "We don't 'kill' the messenger, that's not our style," it said.

However, the account then modified its statement a few hours later, saying that Operation Facebook is indeed being organised by some members of the group.

"This does not necessarily mean that all of #Anonymous agrees with it," it added.

The latest Twitter activity, however, seems to indicate that senior members of the group have decided to denounce the OpFacebook campaign completely, instead urging supporters who dislike Facebook to delete account data.

"An Anonymous board meeting was held. We have decided to renounce #OpFacebook. That is all," noted one statement.

Anonops then revealed that "the old hats of Anonymous" had decided to take a firmer role in the direction of the group.

"We're taking Anon back. Time for sensible, focused discussion," it said.

Its strange, when shit hits the fan, the government is always the first to ban social networking sites like Facebook, and Twitter, but then you see this liberal group anonymous trying to take down facebook. Interesting to say the least.
