Thinks that Marx and Engels never met. :glare:

I just heard her say it so I just posted this on impulse and because I'm bored. And she calls herself a Marxist. :sneaky:

Engels used to send Marx money, its pretty unlikely he would have done so unless they were on pretty good terms.

EDIT: I think this confirms she is wrong

t was about this time that the historic meeting between Marx and Engels took place in Paris in the year 1844 -- the year in which Engels published his first substantial work, "The Condition of the Working Class in England in 1844." Previously (in 1842), Engels had met Marx in Cologne, but neither made an impression on the other -- both were young, Engels 22, and Marx 24. However, at their meeting in Paris two years later, they found themselves in "complete agreement in all theoretical fields," and from that meeting their joint collaboration dates. As related by Engels: "When, in the spring of 1845, we met again in Brussels, Marx had already fully developed his materialist theory history in its main features ... and we now applied ourselves to working out in detail, in the most varied directions, the newly won mode of outlook." Meanwhile, the League of the Just was undergoing a "quiet revolution," especially in the London section. In 1847, Marx and Engels were invited to join it, which after some hesitation they did,

It is true that Barbara Marx (a futurist) and Freidrich Engels never met and its also true that Karl Marx never had the opportunity of meeting Bob Engels, a former co-worker of mine. Its just as well, they probably never would have gotten on well.

Unless of course the Engels who wrote "The Condition of The English Working class" died and was replaced by an AI simulcra, as happened to Paul McCartney.

Here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul!

It has now come to light that she did in fact know that Marx and Engels were friends, and she was only joking.

I was gonna say...

nah, my mum is an radical liberal and we have an pretty nice bad cop, worse cop routine going in local politics.
i make outrageous revolutionary demands on a topic and then my moms plans seem all very reasonable when she presents them, and since we dont have the same last name most people dont make the connection.
