Horrible movie. It didn't know if it wanted to be a music video or film.

Hot girls in skimpy fishnet outfits killing zombie nazis/Ogre samurai/Robots with samurai swords and a 1911....... yeah good music video, entertaining but not really a movie with a good plot.

eh, the rest of the plot was boring. If they wanted a real plot they should have had more of the real world in the movie.

Nah It wasn't amazing but it was good.
I liked the fact that I couldn't tell if she was actually dreaming, in the Brothel or in the Mental Hospital until the end. I got lost in the transition from the Mental Hospital to the Brothel's rehearsal stage.
In the end I was like "oh she really was fucked in the head"

I did like the whole plot within a plot thing. Visually kept me entertained. It wasn't ground-breaking but it was fun.

I think that I have no interest in ever seeing that movie. After "300" I have no desire to see anything by that director (or with that Actor - actually I didn't make that decision until I saw the "Awful Truth").
I'd rather watch "the Happening" or "Signs" again than see a movie by that guy.

The WW1 scene looked pretty cool. As for the plot, I didn't know what the fuck was going on.
o well this is ok I guess

when the doctor gave he the lobotomy I expected him to say "well, that's the end of that" and then the credits would roll.

ah yeah, the first part of the movie kinda gives that away. If they had made that more ambiguous it would have been a really good movie. I absolutely hate that she actually got the lobotomy though, sadest part of the movie.

Just because a Film is pointless doesn't mean it's bad.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is just amazing, and pointless.

First, I didn't say it was bad, I inferred that I didn't like/enjoy it.
Second, a bad movie can be pointless.

Yeah, same here. I went with my friends to see "300" and I was probably the only one who came out feeling it was a waste of my time. When they say "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF 300" it isn't getting the desired effect that they want. I think they got Snyder to do the Superman movie too.
I didn't see this movie though, so I can't say anything about it. A friend of mine saw it and his opinion was similar to FightTogether's, but he thought it was "forgettable".

I just.watched it and I must say I rather liked the movie, some decent actors (the guide, rocket, the pimp/orderly), interesting dramaturgic choices, very good soundtrack, awesome art direction.
if only they would have dropped that horible voice over all would have been good.
between 300, watchmen, the highly underestimated "legends of the guardians" and this, zack Snyder is fast becoming an very intrigueing director.

@psycho. OMG .... yeah i wasn't expecting much from the guardians but it was a really good movie But watchmen .... well the first 90% of the movie was amazing, accurate to the comic but the end, using Dr. Manhattan seriously WTF? I mean I know WHY they cut out the giant octopus but .... I still liked that better, tied the book to the eighties and reagans speach about aliens from outside bringing us and the USSR together.
@1994- I loled.

Considering I want a special place reserved in hell for 300, I was suprised that Suckerpunch was such an amazing film. The key is letting all your expectations go when you watch it. It sounds odd, not hoping for anything from the film, but it's such a visual work of art with an outlandish and incredible set of events that it's experienced best without high hopes. After seeing it in theatres, I sat there for a good twenty minutes after it ended and everyone had left wondering what I had just saw. It took a good few hours for it to sick in. Clockwork Nazi soldiers, a Samurai with machine gun arms, zeppellins, trains with bombs, and attractive women fighting a dragon made it into my Top Five Movies of All Time.

300 was just eye candy, why all the hate?
I never expected a historical documentary out of it.

You didn't mention his best production so far, the remake of Dawn of the Dead (2004). Definitely one of the better horror remakes, in the top 3 at least.
(although that might not be saying much)
Haven't really liked anything else I've seen of his work.

I liked how they had to battle robots and defuse a bomb just to get a knife. Other than that I didn't quite see the whole "female-empowerment " element which is what it seemed to try to represent imo. Wasn't too impressed overall.

I think you people are looking too deep in to this. It did exactly what it was supposed to; cashcow fapfic wanking fantasy for nerds with samurai minigun robots, world war imagery and eye candy.

I thought it was a horrible. The director tried too hard with the whole metaphor/endless plots within plots. On an extremely superficial level I suppose it was bearable (read: lots of good looking women kicking ass) but i thought it was awfully pretentious.

Horrible.
Sexist art. Sexist choreography. Sexist, exploitative plot. Semi-pornographic outfits.
It is not about female empowerment, but about the female as an entertainment for the male.
I couldn't find a plot. Seriously.
Sucker Punch illustrates everything that is wrong with popular (capitalist) culture.

...It is not about female empowerment, but about the female as an entertainment for the male...
The kick ass martial arts woman as represented in popular US culture is another iteration of the "phallic woman," "iron ladies" who imitate and try to out do male authority, to be "more men than men themselves."
They're male fantasy figures who perform death defying stunts while attired in skimpy costumes and high heels and display popular male fetishes for big breasts, slim waists and long legs.

Don't you think that you're being mildly hyperbolic here? I'll admit that I haven't seen it, but I think that it would be fair to guess that it doesn't pay much attention to the middle class obsession with property markets, for example, which is a personal bugbear of mine.
