okay, i've posted topics on Bob Marley, and Mahatma Gandhi, and despite how great these people were, some still found things wrong wit' em...
So, its led me to post this topic...
This site's dedicated to Che Guevara, and I respect that and all. I've read up a lot about him, and am gonna buy 'Guerilla Warfare' soon!
The point to this topic is for YOU, the member here at che-lives.com, to tell me everything bad about Che Guevara.
I dont want this site to seem 'biased' towards Che Guevara! So, tell me everything bad about the guy that you know.
-Peace

What do you expect? The sooner people realize no one is perfect and stop turning people into saints the better.
Che - for instance - is guilty of not agreeing 100% with several forms of leftism many people here practice - he in fact made some statements about the Soviet Union many would find shocking. On the other hand - he was also no anarchist.
Oh, and he killed a bunch of people - I sincerely doubt they were all necessary - or that we would have liked to watch him perform executions, etc.
That being said - he was a great man - one of the very greatest. But there is no God - and he wasn't him ;)

Even in his own writings, Che comes across as seeing the world with, uh, red-tinted glasses. Everyone who agreed with him and Castro were good, until they did something bad, and then they were the worst treacherous capitalist bastards ever to taint Cuban soil.
He plays the part of the rabid socialist revolutionary quite well, and although I believe he was a great man, I think he would have also been quite dangerous and unpredictable. Ergo, the executions. A good leader, but not so good if you happened to do something wrong.
Which is also good, in my opinion, because it humanizes him. Which one of us could have that sort of power, and not avoid wielding it against our personal enemies and the enemies of our cause? Luckily, I think the majority of Che's enemies -were- enemies of the cause, in one way or another.
About the chainsmoking, are you sure?
I know he was an asthmatic and a doctor, so I like to believe he was smarter than that. Smoking cigars, yes, but that's an entirely different thing. I would define chainsmoking as dealing only with cigarettes.

I'll just stick to my initial thought that this site is biased towards Che,...
Unless someone tells me otherwise...hah.

I think he was fairly tempremental, sometimes to the detrament of himself and others. I do think that he was sometimes blinded by his revolutionary fervour and probably made the odd needless execution. He can't be judged by this though, no one can tell how they would react in such times. We live in such tepid times that to judge someone by every single action or word they spoke during such a volatile time would be unfair in the extreme.

i read that che had a temper and could get really angry at his men for the smallest things. he was famous for his punishments.
and yeah... the executions... he was a womanizer
but the anti-soviet thing isnt so bad. i didnt like the soviets so much myself.

Knowledge? B.S. ~ ~ U want some biased knowledge from some CIA profiles or what ?
This site is undoubtedly biased towards Che (anyone who has a pair of eyes can notice this). But we comrades are giving you our best knowledge abt him on the bad side already~
To tell u something otherwise? well, that would be doing unjust to Che, as these are the stuff we knew.

Did you just compare Bob Marley to Gandhi?! And Bob Marley to Che?! Both those people (Gandhi and Che) are great political and ideological leaders, whoi strove to make the world a better place throught their hard work and thei blood. Bob Marley is a singer! He is not quite in their leguage my friend.

I dont believe this statement "Bob Marley is a singer! He is not quite in their league my friend." is factual or fair 'Man in The white shirt'. Just because Bob Marley did not die by a bullet or physically take up arms, neither did Gandhi, against an opressing force it does not mean he is not in the league of Gandhi or Che. Bob Marley fought for peace between the two largest opposing political groups which caused many of gallons of blood spilt on Jamaican soil and tried to unite the people of jamaica by means of his music. Bob Marley is NOT just a singer and he IS in the league of Gandhi and Che!!!

I'm not saying "living by the gun" is the only way to be "great". Both these men tried the political path to make things different. Gandhi with his Salt March, among other things, and Che by using the revolution. Music is nice and all, but no singer can really change anything. Political action is the only way to start political change, art is just a by product of the times.
Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

I disagree that music can't change anything but I do agree that Bob Marley was not in league with Che. He was a great guy but I mean, he didn't exactly overthrow a CIA sponsered dictatorship. I don't think Gandhi's so great either but that's another story.

I don't think a comparison between Che and Bob is that offensive. They were both freedom fighters, though i think comparing Che and Peter Tosh would be more accurate than Che and Marley.
Also i think artists can be just important as revolutionaries. art can be revolutionary and Bob Marley's music definately was revolutionary. he's an amazing man who led an amazing life- just like Che.
