Ayn Rand’s 1957 1,000 + page bible of right-wing stupidity has probably done more damage to the American youth than any other book.

This is because her “objectivist” cult of trust-fund acolytes at the Ayn Rand Institute, distribute 300,000 copies of her book every year for free to AP high school advance English classes (the sort of talented kids who are predisposed to be told how great they are and how the poor and stupid are holding them back).

The result is that the pseudo-philosophy of Randian Fascism with its selfishness and religious devotion to capitalism is transplanted into millions of American high school kids heads every year, and causes many of them to see the wealthy, the talented, and the powerful as the oppressed i.e. by a mass of poor “looters”.

Awful writing and 50 page long speeches are bad enough, but a love-letter treatise dedicated to the 1 % who owns 80 % of the World’s wealth is unforgivable. Now sure many American youth outgrow this phase once they find that the “capitalist producers” have sent all the jobs to “Communist China” – but some don’t … and all it does is prevent thousands of Americans from developing a class consciousness at exactly the time when they need one.

Now, having read the awful tome as a youth, I figured I would open up an opportunity for some of the sites restricted Randians to defend this work and make the case for why it isn’t the equivalent of the Satanic Bible mixed with Mein Kampf. What redeemable value (except for toilet paper) does this book have?

They're different niches, I've always found Jackie Chan to be more of a comedic kind of actor than either Bruce Lee or Jet Li. The Drunken Master has to be one of the funniest movies of all time.

The Fountainhead is slightly better in that it defends artistic independence(and utilitarianism) and has capitalists and big business-controlled media as the villains(though the main villain is described as a socialist, he doesn't do anything particularly socialistic and is a filthy-rich person who writes reviews of buildings), yet the writing and characters are still crap.

Jackie Chan will tell you himself he is not a martial artist per se (at least in the martial sense. In China, you would say he is Gung Fu, but not Wu Shu). He grew up in a dance school, and that is basically what he does.
And this is no offense to Jackie Chan, he is for sure one of my favorites. But, as was said, he fills a different niche than Bruce and Jet. Jet Li, incidentally, grew up in the Shaolin Monastery and performed for Bush Sr at the white house.

Once upon a time I made an attempt at reading Atlas Shrugged in Russian translation, but I became really sickened at the page 20, and could not bear myself to continue due to the extremely poor quality of the writing. So one advice for everyone: don't read this book, and if you did, never take it seriously!
