Both of these descriptions arose in another recent thread, and so I figured I would pose the question, and see what thoughts are conjured up ...

Both these answers are pretty ridiculous. The first implies that even if a revolution broke out tomorrow and it took power and was a legitimate revolutionary struggle you would not support it. Where as the other one you would support any hellhole even if they label themselves Socialist or Communist. Both aren't helping the revolutionary cause.

I can't choose either of the options, considering they both suck. It's like asking me if I'm more likely to shoot you in the face or slit your throat while you sleep. The answer should be neither. We should strive to move away from both of the positions in the poll, and support revolutions that help the working class. But as we've seen on here, it's a very gray area...

its a toughie. But id rather support progress no matter how minor it is over seeing progress and criticizing it to the point of opposing it.

Perfectionist, at least with that one there's some critical thinking involved as opposed to just mindlessly accepting something because it's "communist".

I think it's more a question of which of the two extremes does one lean toward. For myself, I think criticism is very important to the development of proper theory and practice, so sycophantic flag-wrapping is not for me.

I am a progressive rather then a perfectionist. Remember the phrase "perfect is the enemy of good."
It is stupid to reject progress just because it is not going to lead to someone's definition of "perfect."

Both these answers are pretty ridiculous.
It isn't meant to be a scientific poll, just more of an attempt to gage general sentiment with hypothetical extremes.
I can't choose either of the options, considering they both suck..
Don't tell me you were one of those guys who would never answer the many absurd variations of the teenage question "Would you rather fuck an elephant, or be fucked by an elephant?" etc :p
It's like asking me if I'm more likely to shoot you in the face or slit your throat while you sleep.
Obviously the answer would be a shot to the face ... less labor involved :ninja:

I lean more towards the first one.

I am closer to being rather illdisposed towards this idiotic kind of dichotomies, as well as the straw man of "perfectionist leftist".

As a sucker for semantics and analysing the exact choice of words, in this instance concerning a revolution which 'takes power'...I'd say that the first actually represents my position surprisingly well, were it not for the whole 'perfectionist' bit...so of course I pick that one...

This, as well as the strawman of "supporting anything wrapped in a red flag".
Poll is sort of petty and not-well-thought-out....

The fact that any ol' red wrapped movement attaining power could implicitly postpone the rise of communism. As much as we learn from capitalists mistake they learn from ours, how to prevent workers from gaining consciousness and demonize historical "Communist" structures.

I'm definitely more on the "perfectionist" side of things...that's why I support Cuba.

I can't help but think that there is a middle ground in between these two options which is not being represented.

Of course there is, I'm not saying that these are the only two options - just trying to gage which ones people think they learn more towards.
