I'm exchanging my bumfuck pit village for something closer resembling civilisation in a few weeks, so I'd like to be able to get involved in some activism. Unfortunately, Dundee not being quite as big or possessing of as active a scene as Glasgow or Edinburgh, I'm having a hard time actually finding out what groups there are around there. Does anybody know of any site or list or whatever that could help me out with that?

Perhaps this (http://signalfire.org/?p=9499) could be of some help, or alternatively this (http://libcom.org/library/give-up-activism) is an interesting resource.

Well here's a list of far left parties from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_Kingdom#Mi nor_far-left_parties

There must be some parties in Dundee but whether they match your politics is another matter. Would you be better suited to an anarchist group than a M-L party? If you can't find any in Dundee perhaps contact larger groups in Glasgow or Edinburgh and ask them if they have any contacts.
This probably isn't much help but meh I tried

Umm, well what exactly do you mean by 'activist groups'? Sorry, the question seems a bit vague.

Most of the UK parties are pretty meh, to be honest- only the Trots ever actually seem to do anything, for a start- so I'm looking for something outside of that. I didn't really specify what I meant, though, so I'll elaborate in my reply to Bricolage.

Sorry, you're right. I mean left-wing groups that actively participate in campaigning, demonstration, workshops, things like that. Not necessarily parties- in fact, I'd really prefer to avoid the parties- or single-tendency groups, but any sort of class struggle-based rather than just single-issue organisation. I'm wondering if there's any resource or site or what have you with contact details and information about these groups, rather than having to stumble around the place trying to puzzle things out on incomplete information.

I dunno why I didn't think of this before, but as a matter of fact, there's a branch of the IWW in Edinburgh and we're definitely non-sectarian. :D

IWW is an option, but Edinburgh is about two hours away from Dundee on public transport, so unless there's a Dundee branch, it wouldn't be much of an option for regular attendance. :(

If you end up not finding any groups you could always start your own :D would be a lot of untapped potential

but seriously I can't believe a city like Dundee is lacking in groups and or parties.

Well, I've got a red flag, so give me five minutes to find delusions of grandeur and we're off. ;)

Yeah, I mean, there's got to be something there. I guess it's just not quite big enough to rely on these things have an obvious presence outside of Dundee itself. (I'll certainly do some looking around when I actually get there, I'd just like to know what directions to be looking in, y'see.)

This may be a little out of date (http://www.revleft.com/vb/political-organisations-t27951/index.html), but I'm sure it's a start. Alternatively, there is this list (http://eng.anarchopedia.org/List_of_Left-Wing_Parties_in_the_United_Kingdom).
