View Full Version : tendency war the musical

So it seems every tendency represented on RL has some good music assosciated with it (maoists have some good hip hop chinese music and so on, anarchists have shit loads of punkrock, the trots have catch 22 etc, bordigists now have black metal, etc..) so why not have a competition to see which tendency has the best music. here's how it works- you post one piece of music that is explicitly aligned with your tendency (+ state what the tendency is). when enough songs have been posted people can start voting for what is the best music
I'll start with this, reppin Maoism:

This is what popped into my head when I read the title of the thread:
When you're a Trot,
You're a Trot all the way
From your first cigarette
To your last dyin' day.
When you're a Trot,
If the spit hits the fan,
You got comrades around,
You're a party man!
You're never alone,
You're never disconnected!
You're home with your own:
When company's expected,
You're well protected!
Then you are set
With a capital T,
Which you'll never forget
Till they axe you and me.
When you're a Trot,
You stay a Trot!

I feel pretty,
Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity
Any Korean who isn't me tonight.
I feel charming,
Oh, so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real.
See the dear leader in that mirror there:
Who can that attractive guy be?
Such a pretty face,
Such a pretty suit,
Such a pretty smile,
Such a pretty me!
I feel stunning
And entrancing,
Feel like running and dancing for joy,
For I'm loved
By all of the DPRK!

THE SYSTEM FAILS
YOU ONCE AGAIN
ONE FACT PREVAILS
THE ONLY WAR IS CLASS WAR
RISE & Burn this fucker down
ORGANIZE
Turn yourselves around
MARCH ON
Hold high the torch of hope
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT
Don't let them destroy you
IT'S YOUR CHOICE
IT'S YOUR VOICE
One struggle binds us together
Not going down without a fight
This storm together we'll weather
At the least we'll have our pride

Stalin, Stalin,
Our Great Leader, Stalin,
I saw you and the world went away.

Stalin, Stalin,
There’s only you, Stalin
What you are, what you do, what you say.

Today, all day I had the feeling
A purging would happen --
I know now I was right.

For here you are
We'll be shot here under the red star

sadly the exploited is pretty much a-political, if anything they like to cozy up to the wrong side.
one member used to be in the national front and watty (the singer) himself has an habit of getting himself photographed with prominent neo-nazi's wearing blood&honour t-shirts while touring.
for someone from engeland who lived through the 80's punk scene there is no excuse for that shit hence why he got landed a few years ago in hospital as collateral dammage when some spanish antifascist happened upon him being all friendly with the local fash leadership they where launching an attack on.
(still awesome music though)

Ehhh, given Shostakovitch's disdain for Stalin, I'm not quite sure he was a Marxist-Leninist.
Most Marxist-Leninists are critical of Stalin, to varying degrees, that's hardly a valid point. You seem to forget that he was also a member of the CPSU and served in the Supreme Soviet of the Russian SFSR, under Stalin I believe.

Nah, Now and Exhausted Love have explicit references to the situs, whereas Man vs. Ape, while very true, doesn't really step beyond what a liberal (in the mainstream US sense) might say.
Plus, Now is an actual call to arms:
We're here to
Bring the people and the music and the movement all together now
They will lose
Saying now's the time
gotta give it all my energy to get rid of the enemy
But those three, along with Birth of a Fish, were the main ones I considered. How Much Do You Pay wouldn't have been a terrible choice either.
