So today I was talking with a roommate over breakfast about our recent trip to Mexico City and down to Peru (which is why I've been away for so long), and we got onto the subject of citizenship. Now the two of us both know what it takes to become a US Citizen, coming from a foreign place, but we both got to wondering what would happen to someone if they renounced complete citizenship from any country, and didn't have in mind to join another one.
I looked up and found the Sovereign Citizen movement here in the US, but I was wondering beyond that, because I didn't seem to get much helpful info from the wikipedia page, and it didn't seem to quite pin down what me and my friend were wondering about.
So, I want to know what would happen to someone if they renounced their citizenship in some country, and didn't plan or want to get a citizenship in another country. What would happen to them, and have there been people that have done it before where they completely lack a world nation's citizenship?
(Also, neither me or my friend are looking to do this, we're just curious.)
