Senior member of the NTC arrested and killed ...

General Abdel Fatah Younis, the chief of staff of the rebel forces in Libya, has been arrested by the National Transition Council.
He is being held at an undisclosed military garrison in Benghazi.
A rebel source said Younis was recalled from Brega early on Thursday, but could not say why.
Reuters news agency said a senior member of the NTC confirmed Younes was in Benghazi but said he had returned from the front line unhappy with the situation on the ground, and officials were trying to persuade him to return.
Al Jazeera's Tony Birtley, reporting from Benghazi, quoted unconfirmed reports as saying Libya's former minister of interior was arrested for dealing with and smuggling arms to Gaddafi loyalists. Younis defected to the rebel side in February.
"He spent 40 years as one of Gaddafi's right hand men as minister of defence and in charge of the special forces. So when he came over five months ago to the opposition cause it was quite a coup. But some people have had their doubts about… his loyalties...
Some of his men have come back from the front line demanding his release. This is an ugly situation in the making," our correspondent said.

BBC and Al Jazeera confirmed he is dead. More developing soon. I'm interested to know the background to this story-but considering the chaoitic makeup of the NTC and rebel forces in general, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

I highly doubt the charges. The Libyan government has enough weapons in storage to arm the population several times over. It's the rebels who are running short of weapons, so where would they get any weapons to sell?

But such is the fate of all those who think they can deal with mujahideen filth.

He dug his own toilet, so to speak.

Reports that a unit of Gaddafi loyalists killed him seem to be balls to me. So what, they appeared out of the shadows and killed one of the best guarded of all the rebels and suffered no casualties and there was no great gun battle before they rode off into the sunset in a rebel heartland?

Also, why did it take the rebels so long to announce the death?

And I agree with the above, why on earth would Gaddafi need a few weapons here and there off the rebels. Stinks to the high heavens. Fuck 'em, as Khad said what do you expect when you're working with filth.
