Depending on where you're at, there should be one (or several) in your area.

Oh yes they certainly aren't thieves. Wait they are? Oh I never knew that.

Yeah, this is what should anger you about financial institutions, the annoying fees.

Ask them if you can switch to an online banking account. It's free as long as you don't need to go to the counter for anything. If they won't switch you, threaten to go to another bank.

A couple of class action lawsuits against them, that you may or may not have a stake in

I just started with US Bank under the pressure of my stepfather but I plan on dropping it for a credit union at some point.

Dude no seriously fuck bank of america. we have our mortgage through them and we couldn't make the payments because my dad had lost his job. While we were keeping up, we went to them and told them we would be having a lot of trouble making them in the future.
So they went and did the whole "lets see if we can lower the monthly payment thing" and instead they increased our payments by half. And they did this multiple times over the course of the past few years.

Back when i was really broke (and bad with bills) i racked up a bunch of overdraft fees, because of the way deduct recurring payments.
My rent check had cleared earlier than i expected (my landlord cashed it by accident) and it overdrew my account in the morning. Throughout the next two days i did some errands, like buying gas, groceries, and whatever, thinking that i had enough in my account, since i had enough to cover the errands, and direct deposit for my paycheck due the next day.
I racked up 6 x 35 = 210 dollars of OD fees in 48 hours. I was suuuuper poor at the time so this like devastated my net worth at the time.
What happened (aside from the landlord messing up) was that if you are overdrawn, the bank not only doesn't decline your transactions when overdrawn, but it also manipulates the "timing of their account corrections" to maximize the OD fees. They process things at the end of the day, where they order by size of adjustment. So it takes out the largest deductions first, then works all the way up to the largest deposit.
I wonder how much i'll get in the class action lawsuit.

I hope you get as much as possible, so far I've succeeded in getting back $20.95 from fees that were irrelevant to my checking account type (apparently the only type of account that gets monthly fees is one with teller transactions instead of ATM and I've never used a teller) and I'm going to try to get the rest back tomorrow
Best of luck
