I am wondering if anyone noticed that various Pentagon officials are calling for the use of Nuclear weapons ? They say they would use them tactically to colapse the caverns that Osama Bin Ladin and the Taliban use . To me this seems insane , for firstly this is going to start a huge international anger and all those with nuclear weapons are going to feel they have the right to use theirs , secondly the reprecausions to the environment , given that Earth is confined area , and lastly the shere stupidity of using such weapons , the use of Nuclear weapons is wrong no matter what . Any one agree .

I think anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together would agree that nuclear weapons are insane - shame we don't have anyone from Hiroshima or Nagasaki to discuss this issue with.

I'm not condoning or condemning any potential course of action based on the information in this thread, but I can tell you that not all nuclear weapons are world-killers. There's a relatively wide range of "tactical" nuclear weapons that can be used very effectively to do things like, well, destroy caves. They are NOT weapons of mass destruction, and they're actually "clean," that is, without long-lasting environmental effects. Again, I'm not making a judgement about this course of action, I'm just warning everyone not to blow a gasket every time they see the word "nuclear."

Good point , but convincing people of that would be difficult , given the fact you think nuclear weapon you think Nagasaki , Hiroshima , and all those tapes of Nuclear weapons tests . I dont like the thought of it , for when you take humans out of the picture of war and let devices and systems take their place sorrow always follows suit . This talk in the Pentagon is starting to sound like how General McArthur wanted to use 50 nuclear bombs to make a permanent 38th parrallel in the Korean War . I hate technology because it gives those with it able to fight a nearly bloodless war leading a masscre of a enemy . At the same time it leads to a disregard for anyone in the vicinity of the enemy .
