View Full Version : A question on modern Fascism.

There is something I've wondered about the modern Fascist movement. The ones we focus on on this site and the the ones I've read about during my online research seem to be of the neo-Nazi racist variety. If I understand Mussolini who originally created Fascism, he didn't care about race but culture and the strength and glory of the state and civilization. It was Hitler who added the racial component.
I'm just curious if there are any Mussolini style neo-fascists movements or are they mostly all of the neo-Nazi type?
I know it doesn't really matter from a practical standpoint since they need to be opposed regardless, I'm just curious since it seems odd that the 'original" type of Fascism hasn't made a comeback while Hitler's more racial version has.

Comissar Rykov talks a little about it here: http://www.revleft.com/vb/calling-all-ex-t158047/index.html

Classical Fascism would justify racism when it found it necessary to do so.
"Fascism Doctrine and Institutions"
"First of all, as regards the future development of mankind, and quite apart from all present political considerations. Fascism does not, generally speaking, believe in the possibility or utility of perpetual peace. It therefore discards pacifism as a cloak for cowardly supine renunciation in contradistinction to self-sacrifice. War alone keys up all human energies to their maximum tension and sets the seal of nobility on those peoples who have the courage to face it." —Mussolini If peace is never to truly exist there must be cause for war; racism has been seen as the truest and most reliable conduit for Fascists to exploit.

I'd argue that there's a lot more Fascism with similarities to Mussolini and Franco than there is Hitler. While there are plenty of Nazis, Neo-Nazis, Skinheads, and Klansmen still around, Mussolini-style Fascism is both more subtle and more widespread.
Now it works like this:
Fascism is essentially Conservatism on steroids- the purpose of Fascism is to preserve the status quo, the ruling class culture, nationalism, traditions, and an inbred form of Capitalism. To maintain all of this, Fascists must put major power in the hands of the military, the police, the secret police, and in a centralized government.
For a good example of a Fascist state- just look at Israel:
Israel knows that it cannot exist democratically, since Palestinians outnumber Israelis eight to one. So Israel, in order to maintain its identity, does everything in its power to maintain the status quo (keeping Palestinians in semi-slavery), maintain culture and traditions (just look at how Israel uses Jewish symbols as national symbols), seizes Palestinian land and goods to prop up Israeli capitalism, and prevents even its own people from dissenting against their country's brutally racist and totalitarian actions.
Other examples would be Apartheid South Africa and Franco's Spain. Many European countries are also progressing steadily towards Fascism- just look at the countless attacks made by such countries as France, the UK, Germany, and Switzerland upon immigrants, Muslims, leftists, gypsies and everyone else who might upset the "traditional order".

As Comrade Susurrus stated I discussed my interaction and time in the Neo-Fascist Movements and why I left. To answer your question there are not many if any European or American Classical Italian Fascist Movements that I am aware of they are all Neo-Nazi. Most don't adhere to the Hilterian Model though I think that is more for PR reasons instead they adhere to the Strasserist variant with its so called "racialist socialism." The majority of Neo-Fashs I met from both sides of the pond were typically Strasserists or Strasserist leaning.
In South America and some parts of the USA lately Peronist style Fascism is becoming more popular though in South America Peron style politics have taken a major shift to the left.

dont be silly, israel is an racist apartheid state but not fascism. it is an perverted form of liberal capitalist democracy but still an democracy with an multi-party system including leftist and communist partys, palestenians/arab isrealis living within the 1967 borders have equal votingrights.
there might be fascist tendency's within the israeli right (kach) but its not an fascist state.
the only currently existing countrys one with some argument could call fascist are north-korea, gaddaffi's lybia and syria

No.
Mussolini did advocate a racial component in his original fascist doctrine, claiming that the people required a "strong sense of race". There's no doubt that white/European supremacy was part of the Italian fascist line, as it was in every fascist group, party, clique or what have you. Fascism is one of the most misunderstood ideologies; most people know that they should hate and revile it, but don't really understand what it is or why they should hate it (and this includes most of the so-called Left). The short answer is that yes, there are Italian-style fascist movements in various nations, with neo-Nazi organizations of greater or lesser significance in almost all North American and European countries, and some in predominantly non-white countries (such as Mongolia). There are no remaining fascist states and there have not been any since they were crushed in 1945.

That depends on how exactly you define fascism. Franco's Spain and Salazar's Portgual weren't exactly the same as Mussolini's Italy, but in my opinion they were close enough.

anyway, the real extremist who pose a threat in europe and north america are folks like geirt vilder, the xenophobes nationalists. The economical politics of that kind of groups are not necessarly fascists, and they dont necessarly want to rule the country. their goal are simple and they can somehow achieve them without being forced to take control of the governement, and that why they are a really big threat.
